Setra Model 204 High Accuracy Pressure Transducer

Description

A test and measurement grade gauge and absolute pressure transducer

The Setra Model 204 is a high accuracy gauge and absolute pressure transducer built around a variable capacitance sensor with a solid one-piece stainless steel sensing element. Setra describes it as the standard for gauge and absolute pressure measurement in test and measurement work, with a response time under 1 ms and low output noise.

It is available in gauge, absolute and differential ranges from 0-25 psi up to 0-5000 psi, plus a 10,000 psig gauge range and a 0-14.7 psi vacuum range, with a 0-5 VDC output as standard and several alternative voltage outputs through the ordering code. Typical uses are R&D test and measurement, vacuum systems, dynamometers and engine test cells.

Where it fits

The 204 suits applications where a pressure reading is used as a reference or control signal and the sensor must hold accuracy over a wide temperature span, such as test rigs, compressor and turbine test cells, hydraulic and pneumatic test benches and vacuum systems. It is a voltage-output transducer, so check that your controller or data logger accepts a 0-5 VDC signal; if you need a 4-20 mA loop, compare with the other Setra models listed on this site.

The datasheet gives the calibration as NIST traceable and states ISO 9001 and ANSI Z540-1 quality standards. The unit meets CE conformance standards. It is not described as certified for hazardous areas.

Ordering and what to confirm

Build the part number from model, pressure range and type, fitting, output, cable termination, accuracy and options. Confirm the pressure range with a margin below the proof pressure shown in the datasheet, the media compatibility with stainless steel, the output voltage and cable length, and whether you need oxygen cleaning or remote calibration. Compare the Setra 209 pressure transducer for another Setra pressure option, or browse pressure instrumentation.

Documents and quotation

The attached Setra datasheet for the Model 204 includes specifications, proof and burst pressure by range, the ordering code table and dimensions. The datasheet text also quotes a higher accuracy figure for the best grade; the specification table is used here as the primary reference.

About brand

Setra Systems, founded in 1967 and based in Boxborough, USA, builds pressure transducers for building air systems, clean spaces and industrial equipment. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Oman, lists the Setra 264 low differential pressure transducer, the Setra 267 very low differential pressure transducer and the Setra 209 pressure transducer.

Setra pressure transducers listed here

The 264 and 267 measure small air pressure differences, the kind found across a filter, between two rooms or in a duct. The 267 comes in a NEMA 4 housing for wall or duct mounting, with an optional static pressure probe and LCD, and both are ordered by range, unidirectional or bidirectional span and output signal. The 209 is a different instrument: an industrial pressure transducer. The 264 and 267 use Setra's stainless steel capacitive sensing element.

Ordering Setra transducers: what we need

Setra part numbers are long because each character fixes a feature. Copy the full number from the label. If the label is gone, send the model (264, 267 or 209), pressure range and unit, whether the range is one-sided or plus and minus, output (voltage or 4-20 mA), supply, accuracy grade, and pressure and electrical connections. Projects in the GCC often specify a display or a duct probe on the 267, so mention those too.
