The Riello UPS Sentryum family (datasheet code S3T) is a transformer-free ON LINE double-conversion UPS from 10 to 120 kVA/kW at output power factor 1. Riello UPS describes it as a third-generation design with a DSP, dual-core microprocessors, three-level inverter circuits and a graphic touch screen. Efficiency is stated up to 96.6 percent in double conversion and up to 99 percent in SMART ACTIVE mode.

One family from 10 kVA single-phase output to 120 kVA three-phase

Three cabinet styles cover the lower range: Compact (CPT, 10 to 20 kVA), Active (ACT, 10 to 60 kVA) and Xtend (XTD, 10 to 60 kVA with space for batteries), while the S3T 80, 100 and 120 models are single cabinets for the upper range. The 10, 15 and 20 kVA models are offered with three-phase or single-phase input and single-phase output; every model from 10 to 120 kVA is available with three-phase input and output. Battery types listed are VRLA AGM, GEL, NiCd, lithium-ion and supercapacitors, with one-level, two-level or cyclic recharge selectable.

The input rectifier gives a power factor of 0.99 and current distortion THDI of up to 3 percent, which lowers the impact on generators and upstream cabling. The UPS can be moved on castors or with a pallet jack.

Choosing the right Sentryum cabinet

Pick the cabinet by power and by where the batteries will sit. Compact suits the smallest loads, Active leaves room for external battery banks, and Xtend carries batteries inside the cabinet for longer autonomy in the same footprint. Some models are also available with internal batteries, and the ACT 60 is supplied without them. Before ordering, state the three-phase or single-phase input and output, the battery chemistry, the runtime, parallel needs and the cable entry, and check whether the 80 to 120 kVA models are needed in parallel.
