Ordering EnerSys batteries: what we need

A battery inquiry needs more than a brand name. Send the cell or monobloc type printed on the label, the nominal voltage and capacity, and the number of cells in the string. Add the system voltage, the required backup time and load if the string is being resized, the terminal layout, and the rack or cabinet dimensions. A photo of the label and of the existing layout removes most doubt.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between PowerSafe OPzV and PowerSafe SBS EON?
OPzV cells are 2 V gel batteries of the classic tall stationary format, usually chosen for long-duration discharge and long float life. SBS EON is a VRLA range built on thin plate pure lead technology and comes in a broader spread of capacities. Which one fits depends on discharge time, room temperature and the charger, so we check your duty against the EnerSys data.
How do I identify an EnerSys cell for replacement?
Read the type designation on the cell label. It normally states the range name, a capacity figure and the nominal voltage. Note the number of cells, how they are connected and the terminal position as well. With a label photo we can match the type against the manufacturer's documentation and tell you if the same model is still current.
Can I mix new EnerSys cells with old ones in the same string?
Battery manufacturers generally advise against mixing cells of different age, type or capacity in one string, because the cells then charge unevenly. If only a few cells have failed, send the type, the age of the string and recent voltage readings. We will check the EnerSys guidance for that range before proposing replacements.
What should I send for an EnerSys battery quotation?
Send the battery type from the label, quantity, nominal voltage and capacity, the application (UPS, switchgear tripping, telecom, solar) and the destination country. If you are replacing a different make, add the system voltage, the load and the autonomy time so the size can be checked against the manufacturer's discharge tables.
Is Seven Star LLC a distributor of EnerSys?
No. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier and has no distributor or agency agreement with EnerSys. We source PowerSafe batteries through commercial channels and provide the manufacturer's datasheet and the documents the manufacturer issues for the batch with the order, on request.
