The Riello UPS Sentinel Dual2 SD2 3000 is a 3 kVA ON LINE double-conversion UPS that fits a 19 inch rack in 2U or stands as a tower. The same chassis serves both layouts: the display is pulled out and rotated, the UPS is turned 90 degrees and either the supplied handles or the optional rack runners are fitted. It is aimed at servers, storage, VoIP and network systems, medical equipment and light industrial controls.

Rack or tower from one model, with user-replaceable batteries

Batteries in Sentinel Dual2 are user replaceable without switching off the equipment and without interrupting the load (hot swap). Configuration can be done from a Bluetooth mobile app (UPStoolsBT) or from a PC with the UPS Tools software supplied as standard. Output voltage can be selected by software at 220, 230 or 240 V, and the unit restarts automatically after a mains failure when programmed to do so.

The datasheet lists power factor 1, a high short-circuit current on bypass, 150 percent overload capability from the inverter even during a mains failure, backfeed protection as standard and an emergency function with soft start. Fan noise stays under 40 dBA at 1 m in ECO mode, so it can sit in an office or a network room.

Selecting a Sentinel Dual2 model

Choose by load in watts and by the runtime required. Standard models hold internal batteries; ER models trade the batteries for a stronger charger and are meant to be paired with matching battery cabinets (BTC SD2 36 V and 72 V series listed in the datasheet). Check rack depth against the cabinet before ordering, because the 3 kVA unit is 625 mm deep.
