Phoenix Contact UT 6 Feed-Through Terminal Block, 41 A
Description
UT 6: 41 A feed-through block for 6 mm² power circuits
The UT 6 steps up from the UT 4 to carry 41 A at 1000 V, with a nominal cross section of 6 mm² and a clamp range of 0.2 to 10 mm². It keeps the same slim UT profile, so a row can mix signal blocks and power blocks without changing the rail layout.
The type code is simple: UT stands for universal terminal and 6 for the 6 mm² nominal cross section. Order number 3044131 is the gray version. Seven Star LLC supplies the UT 6 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.

Why the UT 6 uses an M4 clamp screw
The M4 screw and larger clamp body let the UT 6 hold thicker conductors firmly. Tightening to 1.5 to 1.8 Nm presses the strands against the current bar; the higher torque compared with the UT 4 matches the bigger wire. Power dissipation at nominal condition is 1.31 W per block, which is the number to use for heat calculation in a row of fully loaded circuits.
The data sheet also gives different voltages for bridging: 1000 V for adjacent blocks bridged with a bridge, and 500 V where bridging is made between non-adjacent blocks. This matters when you plan a common supply across a mixed row.
Where the UT 6 fits in a terminal row
Use the UT 6 for motor feeders, heater circuits, power supply outputs and distribution of 24 V DC where currents of 20 to 40 A are expected. It is also a good intermediate size in rows where the incoming cable is 10 mm² and the equipment side is 6 mm², because the clamp accepts the larger wire.
Neighbouring sizes are the UT 4 for 4 mm² and the UT 10 for 10 mm² wire. The protective earth block of this size is the UT 6-PE, which has the same footprint.
Selection and ordering checklist for the UT 6
- Nominal current of the circuit below 41 A with derating.
- Conductor size: 6 mm² nominal, up to 10 mm².
- Bridge type and bridging voltage for adjacent or non-adjacent bridging.
- Rail type NS 35/7.5 or NS 35/15.
- Need for end covers, partition plates and labels.
- Packing unit quantity.
Installation, commissioning and maintenance of the UT 6
Use a screwdriver that fits the clamp screw squarely and tighten to 1.5 to 1.8 Nm. For flexible 10 mm² cable a suitable ferrule or ring is advisable to protect strands, and the conductor should be fully inserted with no copper visible outside the housing.
Commissioning checks should include a visual inspection and, for critical circuits, a thermographic scan under load to find loose joints. Replace any block whose housing shows heat marks.
Keep a record of the torque value and the conductor size used on each critical circuit, and mark the screw with a torque stripe after tightening. On later shutdowns, a broken stripe shows at a glance which clamps have moved. For circuits that carry large inrush currents, such as direct-on-line motor feeders, check the joint again after the first few weeks of operation, because thermal cycling can relax a clamp that was tightened only once.
Typical applications in Oman and the GCC
In Oman and the GCC the UT 6 is typical in 400 V motor control cabinets, power distribution boards for desalination pumps, and generator auxiliary panels. In hot cabinets the 1.31 W dissipation per block and the derating of the load current have to be added to the cabinet heat budget.
Its use in transformer and switchgear auxiliary wiring is also common, where robust screw clamps and high surge voltage rating (8 kV) matter.
Because the conductor range reaches 10 mm², the UT 6 is also a practical choice when site cable is heavier than the drawing assumed: the same block can still be used without redesign, which shortens commissioning delays on remote projects where a replacement part would take time to arrive.
Comparison with neighbouring UT sizes
| Device | Distinguishing data |
|---|---|
| UT 4 (3044102) | 32 A, 4 mm², M3 |
| UT 6 (this part, 3044131) | 41 A, 6 mm², M4, 1.31 W |
| UT 10 (3044160) | 57 A, 10 mm², M4, 1.82 W |
| UT 16 (3044199) | 76 A, 16 mm², M5, 2.43 W |
| UT 6-PE (3044157) | Protective earth block of the same size |

Site conditions in Oman for the UT 6
Control cabinets in Gulf plants often run hot, because many sit in outdoor kiosks or in rooms where air conditioning is not always reliable. Before you finalise the UT 6, check the permitted ambient range and any derating stated by the manufacturer against the real temperature inside your panel, and leave the recommended spacing around the device so that heat can escape. Long cable runs between the field and the marshalling cabinet are common on large sites, so confirm the signal types, wiring limits and earthing arrangement early in the design.
It also helps to standardise on a small number of part numbers across a project. Keeping a few spare UT 6 units on site in Oman shortens recovery time after a fault, and documenting configuration settings makes replacement faster for the maintenance team.

About brand
Phoenix Contact is a German, family-owned manufacturer of electrical connection technology and industrial automation, founded in 1923 in Essen by Hugo Knümann. It began as a sales company, and in 1928 Knümann developed the modular terminal block mounted on a rail, the product the company is still best known for. Phoenix Contact is headquartered in Blomberg, North Rhine-Westphalia.
Seven Star LLC lists Phoenix Contact surge protection, power supplies and safety relays, and sources these components by order number for panel builders and maintenance teams in Oman.

Ordering Phoenix Contact components: what we need
Phoenix Contact items are ordered by a seven-digit order number together with the type designation, both printed on the side of the module. Send both, plus the quantity. If the number is unreadable, send the type text and a photo. For power supplies, state input voltage, output current and whether the unit runs in parallel or with a redundancy module. For buyers in the GCC replacing an older unit, we check the manufacturer's documentation for the listed successor type.
Facts checked against Phoenix Contact's own company history (phoenixcontact.com), October 2026.
