JIE JRP Planetary Gear Unit

Description

Overview

The JIE JRP planetary gear unit is JIE Drive’s answer to the heaviest and most space-constrained drives, where a conventional helical gearbox would become too large or too heavy for the torque required. JIE lists the main JRP range in sizes 9 to 36 with reduction ratios from 25 to 4,000, input power from 0.4 kW up to 12,934 kW and output torque up to 2,600,000 N·m. The company highlights high power density, small volume, modularisation, fast delivery and high interchangeability as the core strengths of the series, together with freedom from oil leakage and a long service life.

Seven Star LLC supplies the JIE JRP to industrial users in Oman and throughout the GCC, with engineering support in Muscat. Planetary units are rarely bought off the shelf; the input arrangement, number of stages and output interface all have to match the machine. Our team works through these choices with the buyer, using the JIE catalogue model structure, so that the JIE JRP quoted is the one that bolts onto the equipment on site.

Working Principle

A planetary stage consists of a central sun gear, several planet gears carried on a rotating planet carrier, and an internally toothed ring gear fixed in the housing. The input drives the sun gear; the planets roll between the sun and the stationary ring, and their carrier becomes the slow-turning, high-torque output. Because the load is split between several planets meshing at the same time, each tooth carries only a fraction of the total torque. That load sharing is what gives a planetary unit like the JIE JRP its high torque density and compact, coaxial shape.

Very high overall ratios are reached by stacking planetary stages, with the carrier of one stage driving the sun of the next. The JIE JRP catalogue covers two-stage and three-stage planetary units, and a further helical or bevel stage can be placed in front of the planetary section. That pre-stage both adds ratio and, in the bevel forms, turns the input through 90 degrees. The forces inside a planetary set are largely balanced around the axis, so bearing loads stay moderate even at very high output torque.

Engineering Design of the JIE JRP

JIE builds the JIE JRP on a modular system that lets one family serve many machine layouts. Four basic input forms are catalogued: JRP..N standard coaxial planetary units, JRP..S units with a one-stage helical parallel-shaft input, JRP..L units with a one-stage bevel input at a right angle, and JRP..K units with a bevel-helical first stage. On the input side buyers can choose a D2 solid shaft, an ADM flange with solid shaft, or a direct IEC electric motor interface.

Output options cover the common ways of connecting to heavy machinery: type A hollow shaft with shrink disc, type B solid shaft with flat key, type C hollow shaft with involute spline, and type D solid shaft with involute spline. The JIE JRP can be installed on a base, by flange or with a torque arm. Standard paint is RAL 7031 and the units are supplied ready for operation without a lubricant fill, using the oil viscosity marked on the nameplate. For lighter loads JIE also offers the smaller JRPE line in sizes 01 to 8, rated from 1,000 to 13,000 N·m, plus specialised JRPH, JRPG port-equipment and JRPN mixer variants.

Key Features

The following points summarise what the JIE JRP brings to a heavy drive design.

  • Load sharing across several planets gives very high torque from a compact, coaxial housing.
  • The main JIE JRP series runs from size 9 to size 36 with ratios from 25 to 4,000.
  • Input power ratings extend to 12,934 kW and output torque to 2,600,000 N·m.
  • Coaxial (N), parallel-shaft (S), bevel (L) and bevel-helical (K) input forms suit inline or right-angle layouts.
  • Shrink-disc, keyed and involute spline outputs, hollow or solid, match a wide range of driven shafts.
  • Base, flange and torque arm installation are all supported by the modular housing.
  • JIE highlights no oil leakage, long service life and high interchangeability between modules.
  • Related JRPE, JRPH, JRPG and JRPN variants extend the platform to smaller drives, port cranes and mixers.

Industrial Applications

JIE names construction machinery, environmental protection, energy and construction as the main fields for the JRP family. In the Gulf region that covers tracked and wheeled construction equipment, slewing and travel drives, large mixer drives in concrete and asphalt plants, and heavy rotating equipment in power and water projects. A coaxial JIE JRP with a splined output is a natural fit where the gear unit must sit inside a wheel hub, a winch drum or a slewing ring, and the small diameter of a planetary unit helps where the machine envelope is fixed.

Port operators at Sohar, Duqm and Salalah use planetary gearing in crane hoist, travel and slewing drives, and JIE offers the dedicated JRPG port equipment line for that duty. Desalination, wastewater and industrial plants use planetary units on large agitators, thickeners and crushers. Seven Star LLC supports all of these users as a trusted supplier with engineering support in Muscat. Where the drive torque is moderate and a packaged gearmotor is enough, we also supply the JIE JRT R series helical gearmotor.

About brand

Gear units and gearmotors are the core business of JIE, a manufacturer founded in 1988 and based in Hangzhou, China. Its drives turn conveyors, mixers, hoists, pumps and bulk handling machinery in heavy industry.

Seven Star LLC lists JIE gearmotors and industrial gear units and supplies them to plants and machine builders in Oman, selected from the manufacturer's catalog data.

JIE product families on this page

The JRT modular gearmotor line is listed in its four classic forms: the R series helical gearmotor with in-line shafts, the F series parallel shaft helical gearmotor, the K series helical-bevel gearmotor with a right-angle output, and the S series helical-worm gearmotor. For heavier duty there are two industrial gear units: the JRHH with parallel shafts and the JRHB helical-bevel unit.

Where JIE drives are used

R and F units drive conveyors, agitators and pumps where the motor sits in line with or parallel to the driven shaft. K units fit where space forces a right-angle layout, as on belt conveyor heads and bucket elevators. The JRHH and JRHB industrial gear units are applied to large conveyors, crushers, mills and hoisting gear in cement, mining, ports and bulk handling, industries well represented in the GCC.

Ordering JIE gearmotors: what we need

Send the full type designation and the nameplate data of the existing unit: ratio, output speed, motor power, mounting position and serial number. For a new drive we need the required output torque and speed, the service factor or a description of the load, shaft type (solid or hollow, with dimensions), foot or flange mounting, motor voltage and frequency, brake if any, and the ambient temperature. A dimensional sketch of the driven machine shaft prevents most fitting errors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose a JIE JRP planetary unit over a helical gearbox?
A planetary stage shares the load between several planet gears, so the JIE JRP delivers much higher torque from a smaller, lighter and coaxial housing. That makes it the better choice where space is limited or torque is extremely high.
What ratio and torque range does the JIE JRP cover?
The main JIE JRP range covers sizes 9 to 36, ratios from 25 to 4,000 and output torque up to 2,600,000 N·m. The smaller JRPE line covers sizes 01 to 8 with output torque from 1,000 to 13,000 N·m.
Can the JIE JRP be supplied with a right-angle input?
Yes. The JRP..L form adds a one-stage bevel input and the JRP..K form adds a bevel-helical first stage, both turning the input through 90 degrees. The JRP..N form is coaxial and the JRP..S form uses a helical parallel-shaft input.
Which output shaft interfaces are available on the JIE JRP?
JIE lists four outputs: a hollow shaft with shrink disc, a solid shaft with flat key, a hollow shaft with involute spline and a solid shaft with involute spline. The splined versions are common on wheel, winch and slewing drives.
How does Seven Star LLC support JIE JRP orders in the GCC?
Seven Star LLC supplies the JIE JRP in Oman and the GCC and provides engineering support from Muscat. We help define the input form, stages and output interface, then coordinate delivery to site.
