Three gear unit lines are listed. R series helical gear units have coaxial input and output. K series helical-bevel gearmotors turn the output through 90 degrees and suit conveyors and hoists. The WES series is the stainless steel SPIROPLAN right-angle gear unit for hygienic and washdown areas, alongside the RES and KES stainless steel units. The remaining items are brake parts: the BG1.2 brake rectifier (part number 8269920), the BSG brake control unit for 24 V DC supply (8254591) and a BMG1 brake rated 10 Nm (08671427). SEW also makes MOVITRAC and MOVIDRIVE inverters and MOVIMOT decentralized drives.
Where SEW-EURODRIVE drives are used
Belt and roller conveyors, bucket elevators, mixers, agitators, cranes, bottling and packaging lines, baggage systems and water treatment equipment all use these gearmotors. In GCC plants the usual request is a like-for-like replacement of a drive or brake that has been running for years.

Ordering SEW-EURODRIVE parts: what we need
The nameplate decides everything. Send a photo, or copy these fields: the full type designation, the serial number, gear ratio, mounting position (M1 to M6), output speed and motor power, motor voltage and frequency, and for brakemotors the brake type, brake voltage and braking torque. For a rectifier or brake control unit the eight-digit part number is enough. For a gear unit without motor, add the input adapter size and shaft or hollow shaft dimensions.

01How do I read an SEW-EURODRIVE nameplate type designation?
The designation is built from left to right: gear unit series and size, then motor series and size, then options such as brake, encoder or thermal protection. A code beginning with K is a helical-bevel unit and one beginning with R a helical unit. The serial number lets the manufacturer trace the original order, so always send both.
02Which brake rectifier matches my SEW brakemotor?
It depends on the brake voltage and the way the brake is wired. BG and BGE rectifiers are fed with AC voltage and sit in the motor terminal box, while the BSG control unit is used when the brake is supplied from 24 V DC. The part number is printed on the rectifier. Send it with the motor nameplate and we will check the match in SEW documentation.
03Is a BMG brake still the right part for a current SEW motor?
BMG brakes belong to the earlier DT and DV motor generation. Current DR motors use BE brakes, which have different dimensions and part numbers. A brake must therefore be chosen from the nameplate of the motor it will be fitted to. Send the motor type and serial number and we will identify the correct brake or brake parts in the manufacturer's parts list.
04Why do you ask for the mounting position of a gear unit?
SEW gear units are filled with a quantity of oil that depends on the mounting position, M1 to M6, and the breather and oil plugs are placed to suit it. A unit ordered for one position cannot simply be turned to another. The position is on the nameplate. If it is unreadable, describe or photograph how the drive is mounted.
