HIMA F7131 Power Supply Monitoring Module for H51q
Description
Overview
The HIMA F7131 power supply monitoring module with buffer batteries is designed for the PES H51q and carries order number 98 1713102. It monitors the 5 V system voltage generated by up to three power supplies and reports the condition of the supply to the central modules F 8650/F 8651. This HIMA F7131 power supply monitoring module is supplied as a genuine tested spare part.
In a H51q safety controller the 5 V bus voltage is the lifeblood of every module. The HIMA F7131 power supply monitoring module watches that voltage continuously, buffers it with internal batteries during short interruptions and makes the supply status visible on three front LEDs, so a failing power supply is detected before it can disturb the safety function.
Engineering & Design
The HIMA F7131 power supply monitoring module monitors the 5 V system voltage from up to three power supplies and provides three LEDs on the front for the supply status. Three test bits are made available to the central modules F 8650 / F 8651 for display and for evaluation in the user program. With the assembly kit B 9361 the module also monitors the function of the power supply modules via three 24 V outputs (PS1 to PS3).
During normal operation the F 7131 continuously compares the monitored 5 V level against the safe window defined for the subrack. If a power supply fails or drifts, the module flags the affected path so that the central module can take the supply status into account in the user program. The buffer batteries bridge short supply dips, which keeps the volatile data of the system alive and prevents spurious shutdowns during brief interruptions. When the assembly kit B 9361 is fitted, the three 24 V outputs PS1 to PS3 extend the monitoring to the function of the power supply modules themselves, giving maintenance teams an early and clear signal before a supply problem escalates into a process trip. Routine verification of the module is part of the standard H51q proof test procedure.
The module carries a CR-1/2 AA-CB buffer battery, HIMA part no. 44 0000016, with a recommended replacement interval of four years. It occupies 4 TE of space and draws only 25 mA from the 5 V rail and 20 mA from the 24 V rail.

Identifying a Genuine F 7131 Spare
HIMA H51q modules are identified by the type name on the front plate and the order number on the module label. Before you order, confirm:
- the front plate reads F 7131 and the label carries order number 98 1713102;
- the hardware revision printed on the label, so the spare matches the revision recorded in your system documentation;
- whether your subrack uses the assembly kit B 9361 for 24 V monitoring of the power supply modules, because this affects wiring, not the module itself;
- the condition and date of the buffer battery, so you know if a new CR-1/2 AA-CB battery (44 0000016) should be ordered with the module.
Replacing the Module
The F 7131 supervises the 5 V supply for the whole subrack, so plan its replacement carefully:
- Check the H51q manual and your site procedure to see if the module can be changed with the system running or only during a shutdown in your configuration.
- Note the current LED states and the test bit status in the user program before you start.
- Handle the module with ESD protection and fit it in the same slot, without forcing the connector.
- After insertion, confirm that the three LEDs show normal supply status and that the test bits read healthy on the central module F 8650/F 8651.
- Record the replacement and the battery date in the maintenance log.
Troubleshooting the Supply Alarms
- One LED off or a test bit in alarm – measure the 5 V output of the matching power supply before replacing the F 7131; in most cases the power supply is the root cause.
- Alarm from the 24 V outputs PS1–PS3 – check the B 9361 wiring and the power supply module it monitors.
- Loss of data after a short power dip – check the buffer battery; an old battery cannot bridge the interruption.
- Intermittent alarms – look for loose backplane connections and high cabinet temperature.
H51q Systems in Oman and the GCC
H51q controllers still protect many compressors, furnaces, wellhead and plant ESD systems in Oman and the wider GCC. High ambient temperatures and older cabinet cooling put extra stress on power supplies and batteries, so a planned battery change every four years and a spare F 7131 on the shelf are sound practice.

About brand
Emergency shutdown, burner management and fire and gas logic are the jobs HIMA controllers are built for. The company goes back to 1908 and is based in Brühl, Germany, and its whole catalog is safety-related automation. Seven Star LLC lists HIMA safety PLC systems and the modules that keep older HIQuad systems running, and sources them by part number for plants in Oman.
HIMA safety systems and modules listed
The listing covers three generations of HIMA hardware:
- HIQuad H41q and H51q: central modules such as F8650X, coprocessor F8621A, power supply and monitoring modules F7130A and F7131, coupling module F7553, current distribution F7105A, the H7506 bus terminal for HIBUS-2 and cabinet parts such as the K9202 fan drawer
- HIQuad X: the current modular system that continues the HIQuad line
- HIMax: the X-CPU 01 processor module for SIL 3 applications
Engineering software is part of the picture. ELOP II is the programming tool for H41q and H51q systems, while HIMax and HIQuad X are engineered with SILworX.
Where HIMA safety PLC systems are used
HIMA safety instrumented systems run ESD, process shutdown, burner management, turbomachinery protection and pipeline safety functions in gas plants, refineries, petrochemical complexes, terminals and power stations across the GCC. Many of these plants still operate H41q or H51q racks, so demand for single replacement modules is steady.
Ordering HIMA modules: what we need
HIMA modules are identified by the type printed on the front, for example F8650X, plus a nine-digit part number and a hardware revision on the side label. Send all three, with a photo if possible. Tell us the system type (H41q, H51q, HIQuad X, HIMax or HIMatrix) and, for central modules, the operating system version in use, because the replacement must be compatible with the running configuration. For software such as ELOP II, state the version and license type. We check the data against HIMA documentation and, when a module has been discontinued, propose the successor the manufacturer specifies.
