ABB Endura AZ20 Combustion Gas Oxygen Analyzer

Description

Overview

The ABB Endura AZ20 oxygen analyzer is an in-situ combustion instrument that measures O2 directly in the flue gas with a heated zirconium oxide cell mounted at the tip of the probe. Because no sample is extracted, the measurement avoids sample transport delay and sample system maintenance.

The AZ20 is part of ABB’s Endura combustion analyzer family and consists of a probe with an integral or remote transmitter. It is used for combustion trim control, efficiency monitoring and emissions-related O2 measurement on boilers, furnaces and fired heaters.

Key Features

  • In-situ zirconia measurement, 0.01 to 100% O2 display range
  • 316L stainless steel probe for process temperatures up to 800 °C
  • Probe insertion lengths from 0.5 m to 4.0 m
  • AutoCal option with built-in solenoid valves and test-gas pressure switches
  • 4 to 20 mA output with HART 5.7, optional second isolated output
  • Two relay outputs and NAMUR-style diagnostics

ABB Endura AZ20 Ordering Code and Options

The AZ20 order code has a transmitter block and a probe block after the AZ20/ prefix. The first transmitter digit selects the output set: 1 for the standard transmitter, 2 for standard plus a second analog output, and 3 for standard plus two digital inputs/outputs. The next digits choose the cable entry (M20 or NPT) and the system type: integral, remote, or remote in a stainless steel housing.

In the probe block, the automatic calibration digit has four working choices: with or without AutoCal, each with or without built-in flow restrictors. Restrictors let the probe run from a fixed 1 bar supply without external flowmeters. The insertion length digit runs from 1 (0.5 m) to 8 (4.0 m) in 0.5 m steps. The flange character covers the ABB standard flange, DIN 65/80/100, ANSI 2, 2.5, 3 and 4 in, and JIS 65/80/100. The thermocouple is type K, and the cell option is either the standard cell or the large-surface-area filter for dusty gas.

Remaining positions set the probe cable length for remote systems (5, 10, 25, 50, 75 or 100 m), cable type, certification, menu language, and special features such as a corrosion-resistant PFA coating for process temperatures below 250 °C.

ABB Endura AZ20 Installation and Wiring Notes

The probe may be mounted at any angle from horizontal to vertically downward; ABB notes that horizontal probes longer than 2.0 m may need support. Reference air and test gas must be clean, dry and oil-free, passed through a 5 micron oil-coalescing filter-regulator from a supply of no more than 10 bar. Where no instrument air is available, ABB offers a reference air pump. On remote systems the cable screens are connected only at terminal 3 in the remote terminal housing and must not be earthed anywhere else. The mains input is protected by a 1.0 A type F fuse.

About brand

ABB, formed in 1988 and headquartered in Zurich, covers an unusually long stretch of a plant's equipment list, from the flowmeter and analyzer in the field to the drive, breaker and protection relay in the electrical room.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier serving Oman and the GCC. Our ABB listing concentrates on measurement and analytics: ABB flowmeters, liquid analysis sensors and systems, level and pressure instruments. It also includes valve actuators, low voltage circuit breakers, ABB drives, soft starters and protection relays.

ABB product families on this page

Flow measurement includes ABB electromagnetic, Coriolis, vortex and swirl meters, sold under names such as ProcessMaster, AquaMaster, CoriolisMaster and SwirlMaster. Liquid analysis covers pH, conductivity and dissolved oxygen sensors with their transmitters. SensyTemp TSP sensors handle temperature. On the electrical side the listing has ACS355 machinery drives, the ACS550 general purpose drive, the ACQ580 for water and wastewater and the ACS880-01 industrial drive, with fieldbus adapters such as the FPBA-01 for PROFIBUS DP. Protection and switching products include SACE Tmax XT molded case breakers, SACE Emax 2 air circuit breakers, PSR soft starters and the REM615 and RET615 relays.

Where ABB instruments and drives are used

Water and wastewater plants use the electromagnetic flowmeters, analyzers and ACQ580 drives together. Oil and gas, power and chemical plants specify the Coriolis and vortex meters, pressure and level transmitters and the 615 series relays for motor and transformer feeders. The drives run pumps, fans, conveyors and compressors in almost every industry.

Ordering ABB parts: what we need

For drives send the full type code from the rating label, for example ACS355-03E-05A6-4, plus the serial number if it is a replacement. For instruments send the complete order code, measuring span, process connection, wetted materials, output or protocol and the hazardous area approval. For breakers give frame size, rated current, breaking capacity, number of poles, trip unit and fixed or withdrawable version.
