Pepperl+Fuchs HiD2030 SMART Transmitter Power Supply with HART (HID 2030)

Description

Overview

The Pepperl+Fuchs HID2030—also referred to as HID 2030—is a HART® pass-through SMART transmitter power supply (2-channel isolated barrier) for intrinsically safe 4–20 mA loops. Plugged onto a HiD Termination Board in your marshalling or system cabinet, it creates a clean, galvanically-isolated communication path to your smart transmitters so the transmitters are powered through a fully floating supply and the 4 … 20 mA signal is repeated to the control side, while HART digital signals superimposed on the loop are transferred in both directions. In existing installations, the HID2030 preserves HART visibility between the field transmitter and a connected HART-capable host, while the analog value is delivered at the output as 4 … 20 mA or 1 … 5 V (DIP switch selectable).

Key Features & Specs

  • SMART transmitter power supply: Powers 2-wire SMART transmitters or current sources in the hazardous area and repeats the 4 … 20 mA signal to the control side, per channel.

  • Galvanic isolation & Ex ia: Functional insulation between output, power supply and channels (rated insulation voltage 50 Veff acc. to DIN EN 50178); [Ex ia] IIC circuit for hazardous areas.

  • Output to the control system: 4 … 20 mA or 1 … 5 V (DIP switch selectable), load 0 … 650 Ω, for the analog input of the control system.

  • Termination Board mounting: 18 mm wide module that plugs onto a HiD Termination Board.

  • SMART protocols: Supports HART, BRAIN, Bailey (STT02 communication only) and Foxboro protocols.

  • Two channels and splitter use: Two channels per module; usable as a signal splitter with 1 input and 2 outputs.

  • Functional safety and fault detection: Up to SIL 2 acc. to IEC/EN 61508; line fault detection with a collective fault output.

Applications

  • Commissioning & loop check: Power and check 2-wire SMART transmitters in hazardous areas, with HART signals passed through to the safe area.

  • Hazardous-area transmitters: Supplies [Ex ia] IIC circuits for transmitters located in Zone 0, 1 and 2.

  • Fault monitoring: Signals an input outside 0.2 … 24 mA on a collective fault bus, which can be monitored via a Fault Indication Board.

  • Safety loops: Suitable for use up to SIL 2 acc. to IEC/EN 61508 per the Pepperl+Fuchs datasheet.

  • Signal splitting: One transmitter input can drive two outputs (4 … 20 mA or 1 … 5 V).

Integration Notes

Mount the HiD2030 on a HiD Termination Board and connect per Pepperl+Fuchs wiring diagrams. The device supplies the transmitter and repeats its 4 … 20 mA signal to the control side, and passes superimposed HART signals through between the field and the safe area. Observe the Pepperl+Fuchs system description for the HiD Termination Board, the Ex ia certificates and the loop and cable requirements of the connected transmitters.

Installation Best Practices

  • Use twisted-pair wiring, keep the control-side load within 0 … 650 Ω, and ensure the transmitter receives at least 15.5 V at 20 mA.

  • Follow shielding/grounding guidance to maximize noise immunity.

  • Label channels/loops for quicker service; keep runs short and tidy.

  • Validate communication with a known-good HART handheld or AMS before panel close-up.

  • Record the DIP switch setting of each channel (4 … 20 mA or 1 … 5 V) for repeatable maintenance.

Why Seven Star LLC

We supply genuine HID2030, validate loop counts and Termination Board compatibility, and provide wiring guidance and documentation with your order. Because the HID2030 is a two-channel module that plugs onto a HiD Termination Board, we confirm the number of loops, the transmitter types and the required output signal (4 … 20 mA or 1 … 5 V) before shipment. For facilities across Oman and the wider GCC replacing or extending HiD transmitter power supply channels, we help match the module to your existing Termination Boards and instrumentation inventory.

We also support maintenance teams standardizing their intrinsically safe loop hardware across multiple sites, confirming the DIP switch settings, SMART protocol and Ex certification requirements of each loop before an order ships. Where documentation from a previous installation is incomplete, our team can help reconstruct the loop configuration from what is verifiable on site, so your upgrade proceeds on confirmed information rather than assumptions.

The HID2030 powers 2-wire SMART transmitters from the safe area through an intrinsically safe, galvanically separated circuit and repeats their 4 … 20 mA signal to the control side, while HART and other SMART protocol signals are passed through. For plants running a mixed fleet of 2-wire transmitters and current sources, we help confirm that each loop falls within the module’s input and Ex ia parameters stated in the datasheet before your team commits to standardizing on it.

Reach out with your loop count, the transmitter types in your loops, and your HiD Termination Board type, and our team will confirm the right HID2030 configuration, realistic delivery timeline, and any wiring documentation your team will need for a clean installation, so the installation proceeds on confirmed information. We are also glad to advise on the output setting of each channel (4 … 20 mA or 1 … 5 V) and on using the module as a signal splitter with one input and two outputs.

What the HiD2030 Is and How It Differs from the HiD2030SK

The HiD2030 is an isolated barrier for intrinsic safety applications. It provides a fully floating supply to power 2-wire SMART transmitters in the hazardous area and repeats the current to drive a safe-area load; it also works with 2-wire current sources. The output is 4 … 20 mA or 1 … 5 V, selected per channel with DIP switches, and the module mounts on a HiD Termination Board.

The HiD2030SK has the same two-channel format and supply, but is designed to provide a sink mode output on the safe-area terminals: its 4 … 20 mA output has a current limit of 24 mA and works from an external 7 … 30 V supply. The HiD2030 itself offers the selectable 4 … 20 mA or 1 … 5 V output.

Line Fault Detection and Signal Splitter Use

Each channel monitors its input current. A separate fault output on the bus is signaled if the input signal is outside the range 0.2 mA … 24 mA, and the collective fault condition can be monitored via a Fault Indication Board. In normal operation the input current is evaluated between 1 mA and 23.5 mA without fault.

The module can also be used as a signal splitter with one input and two outputs. In this connection, Pepperl+Fuchs notes that communication for the SMART transmitter is provided only on output channel 1, and that the minimum supply voltage available for the field transmitters is 14.7 V at 20 mA instead of 15.5 V at 20 mA.
