Accuenergy Acuvim 3 Class A Power Quality Meter
Description
Acuvim 3 is the Accuenergy flagship power quality and revenue meter. It is compliant with IEC 61000-4-30 class A (third-party certified by NMi, per the datasheet), measures active energy to IEC 62053-22 class 0.1s and ANSI C12.20 class 0.1, samples at 1024 samples per cycle and detects harmonics up to the 127th order.
Class A analysis, synchrophasors and billing in one device
Voltage and current RMS are updated every half cycle. The meter captures waveforms of up to 512 samples per cycle in COMTRADE format with up to 60 cycles before and 300 cycles after an event, analyses transient voltage at 32,000 samples per second, and produces EN 50160, IEEE 519 and ITIC/CBEMA reports.
It also provides IEEE C37.118 synchrophasor output with configurable frame rates, frequency and ROCOF detection, and time synchronisation from IRIG-B, NTP, SNTP and PTP. Time-of-use metering supports 8 tariffs and 12 previous billing periods.
Features stated in the datasheet
- 32 GB data logger with up to 15 configurable data loggers and data post by HTTP/FTP.
- IEC 61000-4-15 class F1 flicker; frequency 40 to 70 Hz at 1 mHz.
- Dual Ethernet port, RS485, IRIG-B, four digital I/O and USB-C; optional Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz), NW non-Wi-Fi model available.
- Optional 7-inch colour touch-screen remote display (ACUVIM-3-REM-DISP).

Order code
Order as Meter Model – Mounting Option – Current Input – Power Supply – Canada Application – NW. Mounting D is panel mount with LCD, M is DIN rail without LCD; current input is 5A (5 A / 1 A) or mV (333 mV and Rogowski); power supply P1 (AC/DC) or P2 (20 – 60 Vdc); MC marks Measurement Canada and NW the non-Wi-Fi version. Examples: Acuvim-3-M-5A-P1-NW and Acuvim-3-D-5A-P2-MC.
Per the datasheet note, Measurement Canada certified meters do not support the millivolt current input option.
Installation notes
The meter mounts on a DIN rail or in a panel. Up to three external AXM I/O modules can be attached, with no more than two of the same kind, each given a different logic number in the meter configuration.
Because class A compliance depends on correct CT and VT settings, record the CT ratio, connection type and nominal frequency at commissioning.
Applications
The datasheet lists SCADA, industrial automation, power quality, UPS systems, critical infrastructure, data centres, telecom, manufacturing, substations, healthcare, DER and microgrids, auxiliary frequency response services and EPSS testing. General engineering note: for Gulf utilities and large industrial sites, the EN 50160 and IEEE 519 reports can support power quality acceptance checks.
Related Accuenergy items
The Acuvim II offers class 0.1s metering with modular expansion at a simpler level, and the AcuRev 1320 is a class S DIN-rail alternative. See the power meters category.
Commissioning and enquiry notes
Class A power quality meters are installed in the region at substations, utility supply points of large plants, data centres and hospitals, and on feeders to large drive loads, where harmonics, voltage dips and transients must be recorded to a recognised method. Set the wiring mode, CT and PT ratios and the nominal values at commissioning, and synchronise the time source so events can be compared with protection relay and utility records. Oman’s networks run at 50 Hz. Check the panel’s internal temperature in summer.
