Brand:

TP-Link SG3452P Omada 48-Port PoE+ Gigabit Switch

Description

A 52-port PoE+ switch for large camera and Wi-Fi estates

The SG3452P is an Omada Access switch with 48 gigabit RJ45 PoE+ ports and four gigabit SFP slots in a 440 x 330 x 44 mm metal case. It shares a 384 W PoE budget with up to 30 W on any port and is aimed at larger camera, access-point and phone installations that outgrow a 24-port unit.

Beyond switching at 104 Gbps and 77.38 Mpps, the datasheet highlights ERPS ring protection, OAM and DDM, static routing with 48 IPv4/IPv6 routes, and both standalone and Omada-controller management. Two console interfaces, RJ45 and Micro-USB, are fitted for local access.

Reading the numbers: 48 gigabit ports plus 4 SFP slots equal 52 Gbps per direction, or 104 Gbps counted both ways (derived), which matches the stated switching capacity. The 384 W PoE budget spread over 48 ports is 8 W per port on average (derived), so the switch suits cameras and phones at full count, or about 25 access points drawing 15 W each. At full PoE the unit draws about 447 to 464 W, so the supply circuit, the UPS and the room cooling should be sized for roughly half a kilowatt.

Ring protection, PoE and management features

  • 48 PoE+ ports and 4 SFP slots; 384 W budget with perpetual PoE, fast PoE and PoE extend mode.
  • ERPS for rapid protection and recovery in ring topologies, plus loopback detection and spanning tree variants.
  • L3 functions: 32 IP interfaces, 48 static routes, DHCP server and relay, 316 ARP entries.
  • ACL, 802.1X, DHCP snooping, IP source guard and storm control; HTTPS and SSH management.
  • 16K MAC table, 12 Mbit packet buffer and 9 KB jumbo frames.

Ordering the SG3452P and matching SFP modules

Order code SG3452P, hardware version 3.40 (UN) on the datasheet. The box contains the switch, power cord, console cable, rack-mount kit, rubber feet and installation guide. The ordering section of the datasheet names the SM311LS, SM311LM and SM331T modules among its SFP options. Transceivers are quoted separately.

Thermal, noise and power planning

This is the louder and hotter of the Omada PoE switches: three fans, noise up to 48.2 dBA at 1 m at 45 degrees C and full load, and an operating limit of 45 degrees C. At full PoE the draw is about 447-464 W, so plan the circuit, the rack airflow and the UPS capacity together. Below a 50 W PoE load at 25 degrees C the fans stop. Keep it in an air-conditioned comms room rather than an unventilated cabinet.

Where a 48-port PoE switch is used

Typical placement is the access layer of a hotel, hospital, campus or warehouse where one rack feeds dozens of cameras and access points. The ERPS ring feature allows a resilient fibre ring between buildings using the SFP slots, according to the datasheet highlights.

Information to send with an RFQ for the TP-Link SG3452P Omada 48-Port PoE+ Gigabit Switch

Switch selection depends on how many devices connect, how they are powered and how the switch links back to the core. For the TP-Link SG3452P Omada 48-Port PoE+ Gigabit Switch, list the number of copper and fibre ports you need, the PoE devices it will feed (cameras, access points, phones) and their individual power class, so the total PoE budget can be checked against the switch’s limit.

  • Uplink speed and media: 1G, 2.5G or 10G, copper or SFP/SFP+, and the optic modules required.
  • Management needs: VLANs, link aggregation, IGMP snooping, or central management from a controller.
  • Rack space, airflow direction and power redundancy in the cabinet.
  • Ambient temperature in the room or field cabinet, which matters in GCC summers.

A simple port map of the site is enough for the configuration to be checked before the order is confirmed.
