Pixsys DRR460 18 mm DIN Rail PID Controller, RS485 or CANopen
Description
DRR460 is a multi-zone PID temperature controller that takes only 18 mm of DIN rail (DIN 43880, 18 x 90 x 64 mm). One universal analogue input, two 24 V DC SSR drive outputs, a 0/4-20 mA output and a current transformer input are provided, and two serial versions exist: DRR460-12A-T128 with RS485 Modbus RTU and DRR460-12A-CAN with a CANopen slave interface.
A 30 g controller for dense multi-zone cabinets
Because it is a 24 V DC device only 18 mm wide, the DRR460 can be mounted one per zone along the rail, each fed by the same low-voltage bus and each talking to the master on the serial line. The datasheet lists two SSR outputs at 24 V DC, 50 mA, usable as command, alarm or cooling outputs, and a current-loop output of 0/4-20 mA that can carry the command or retransmit process or setpoint. The CT input (50 mA AC) feeds the heater break alarm, which the manual enables by setting the line frequency to 1 (50 Hz) or 2 (60 Hz).
On the CAN version the manual explains the CANopen slave set-up: after boot-up the device is in the pre-operational state, SDO transfers are allowed, and an NMT message from the master is needed before PDOs are exchanged. DIP switch 1 sets the node address (1 to 127), DIP switch 2 the baud rate from 50 kbit/s to 1 Mbit/s, and a 120 Ω end-of-line resistor can be inserted by shorting pins 9 and 10 on the last node. EDS files are provided by Pixsys for engineering tools.

RS485 or CANopen
Both codes are identical in inputs and outputs: one analogue input, two 24 V DC SSR outputs, one 0/4-20 mA output and CT. Choose DRR460-12A-T128 for Modbus RTU on a PLC or HMI serial line; choose DRR460-12A-CAN where the machine already runs a CANopen network. According to the manual the CAN version has a micro USB connector for connecting a PC with LabSoftview.
Because the DRR460 needs a 24 V DC supply and drives SSRs at 24 V DC, 50 mA, it fits low-voltage SSR modules. For 230 V relays or a front-panel display, compare the DRR244 or ATR124.
Commissioning notes
Heater break alarm: enter 1 or 2 on the CT frequency parameter 90, the transformer rating on parameter 91, then either the threshold in amperes or press the key for more than three seconds to teach the current. An overcurrent threshold is available on parameter 93, and the alarm can be assigned to OUT2 with value 10 on the alarm selection.
For dual-action heating/cooling, set the proportional band above zero for heating, assign value 9 on alarm 1 or 2 for cooling and tune the multiplier p.b.M between 1.00 and 5.00 plus the overlap or dead band. When the analogue output is not used for control it can retransmit process, setpoint, CT current or output percentage, with rescale limits set by index 102 and 103.
Applications
Packaging machines, extruders, hot-runner systems, plastic injection and drying plants use many small zones. The 18 mm width and 30 g weight cut the space of a zone-control cabinet, and the CAN option links the controllers to existing machine networks. Allow ventilation around SSR heat sinks in warm panel rooms.
Selection and installation notes
A temperature controller or process indicator is selected from the input sensor, the range, the outputs it must drive and the panel space. Match the sensor type and range, choose the output to suit the load (relay, SSR drive or analog), run the auto-tuning with the process at normal load, set the alarm limits and keep a record of the final parameters. Use a separate protection device where overheating would be dangerous.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
