Pixsys ATR144 PID Controller 32×74 mm, Dual Display
Description
ATR144 is the advanced member of the Pixsys Blue Line in the 32×74 mm panel format. Where the ATR124 has a single three-digit display, the ATR144 has two: a 4-digit white process display and a 5-digit red display for setpoints and parameter messages, plus up to two digital inputs, NFC setup and an optional Modbus RTU serial port.
Interactive messages and two inputs in the same cut-out
The datasheet highlights a powerful display with interactive text messages and an on-line programming help. In practice the lower red display names each parameter while you step through the configuration, and it shows the type of setpoint that the main display is editing. Six LEDs show the state of command output C, alarms A1 and A2, tuning T, manual mode M and serial activity R, which flashes when the remote setpoint is enabled.
The digital inputs are the main functional step over the ATR124. According to the manual they can switch between two setpoints, hold the reading, start or stop the loop, launch tuning or lock the configuration. Tuning can also be started by the keyboard or by writing 1 to Modbus word 1210, and a synchronized tuning mode is provided for multi-zone systems where neighbouring zones influence each other.
Datasheet highlights
- 16-bit input for thermocouples K, S, R, J, T, N, B, RTD and thermistor probes, 0-10 V, 0/4-20 mA, 0-60 mV and potentiometers.
- 1 or 2 digital inputs, depending on version, for setpoint change, hold, run, tuning launch, start/stop and configuration lock.
- Open/close logic for motorized valves, heating/cooling double PID and soft-start.
- Quick setup by memory card, LabSoftview, EASY-UP codes or the MyPixsys app over NFC.
- Loop-break alarm and automatic output percentage when the sensor fails.

Ordering codes and versions
The datasheet lists ATR144ABC (one analogue input, two 5 A relays, one digital input/output) and ATR144ABCT (one relay, one digital input/output and the RS485 port). The manual describes four versions: ABC and ABC-T on 24 to 230 V AC/DC, AD and AD-T on 12 to 24 V AC/DC. As on the ATR124, choosing -T gives up the second relay for the serial port.
Pick the ATR144 over the ATR124 when you need a digital input for a remote setpoint switch or tuning, or when the operator should see setpoint and process at the same time. For a 48×48 panel with a second relay and an SSR output look at the ATR224.
Wiring, tuning and serial notes
Wire with crimped ferrules or copper conductors from 0.14 to 1.5 mm2 (AWG26 to AWG16), stripped 7 mm. Digital input 1 is enabled by closing terminal 8 on terminal 9; digital input 2 closes terminal 10 on 11. Ground shields at one end of the sensor cable.
Automatic tuning is selected on the tuning parameter; manual tuning calculates the new PID values from a step test, with the tune threshold set at setpoint minus the set deviation tune. For better accuracy start manual tuning when the process is not near the setpoint. On the serial line each parameter change is written to EEPROM (100000 cycles).
Applications
The dual display and the setpoint-select input suit dryers, extrusion zones, curing ovens and thermal test chambers where the operator toggles between two recipes. The manual includes a wiring example that links an ATR144-ABC-T to a CNV580 IIoT gateway, which is relevant for remote alarms on unattended plants.
Related items
The manual lists the 32×74 panel gasket (code 1600.00.082) and the USB memory card (code 2100.30.013). BT-NFC (code 2000.35.099) allows iOS setup. The CNV580 gateway connects the RS485 versions to a cloud app.
Frequently asked questions
What is different between ATR124 and ATR144?
The ATR144 adds a second 5-digit display, one or two digital inputs, open/close valve logic and 0-1/0-5 V input ranges, in the same 32×74 mm cut-out.
Which versions have RS485?
ATR144ABCT per the datasheet; the manual lists ABC-T and AD-T. They use Modbus RTU as slave.
