Pixsys ATR224 PID Controller 48×48 mm, NFC, Dual Display
Description
ATR224 is the 48×48 mm panel version of the Pixsys Blue Line PID controller. It combines a 4-digit white and a 5-digit red display with one universal analogue input, two 2 A relays, an SSR drive output and a digital input, all configurable by keypad, memory card, PC software or NFC from a smartphone.
The square 48×48 format for compact machine panels
A 46 x 46 mm cut-out is all the ATR224 needs; the case then extends 105 mm behind the panel, with the connection terminals on the rear. The same manual covers the DIN-rail sister model DRR224, so the control firmware, parameter list and alarm logic are shared. Tuning may be manual, automatic, run once or synchronized for multi-zone installations, and a loop-break alarm watches for a failed heater or sensor.
Setup is simplified by NFC: the MyPixsys app on Android writes parameters through the front of the controller, and the BT-NFC adapter (code 2000.35.099) covers iOS. Parameter sets can also be copied with the optional USB memory card (code 2100.30.013) or built from EASY-UP codes.
From the datasheet
- One configurable input with 16-bit resolution for thermocouples K, S, R, J, T, E, N, B, RTD, thermistors, V, mA, mV and potentiometers.
- Two relays and one SSR output, configurable as command or alarm outputs.
- Digital input for setpoint change, hold, run, tuning launch, start/stop or lock configuration.
- Open/close logic for motorized valves, heating/cooling double PID, soft-start.
- Automatic switch to a manual output percentage on sensor failure.

ATR224 or DRR224
The ordering code in the datasheet is ATR224-12ABC. Panel mounting is the only difference to DRR224-12ABC, which mounts on an EN 50022 DIN rail (72 x 90 mm front) and has one 5 A and one 3 A relay instead of two 2 A relays. Use the ATR224 where the operator needs to read and set the loop on the cabinet door; use the DRR224 for hidden control in a cabinet.
The 2 A relay rating is modest. For heaters, drive a contactor or a solid state relay from the 12/24 V SSR output rather than switching the load directly.
Installation notes
The manual specifies front-panel mounting type 1 with IP65 only when the gasket is fitted, and notes UL is not evaluated for the enclosure. Separate sensor wiring from power cables, keep contactors and motors away, and install a mains filter on the machine supply. The CE mark on the controller does not remove the machine builder obligation to meet the safety requirements of the machine.
Supply consumption differs between the datasheet and the manual, so confirm the figure on the product label when sizing a control transformer.
Applications
The 48×48 size is common on packaging machines, ovens, hot plates, plastic dryers and small process skids. The dual display lets the operator see process value and setpoint at once, and the REM LED indicates when a remote setpoint is in use. Heat in a Gulf plant room can approach the 45 °C ceiling, so allow free air space around the case.
Selection and installation notes
A temperature controller or process indicator is selected from the input sensor, the range, the outputs it must drive and the panel space. Match the sensor type and range, choose the output to suit the load (relay, SSR drive or analog), run the auto-tuning with the process at normal load, set the alarm limits and keep a record of the final parameters. Use a separate protection device where overheating would be dangerous.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.

Frequently asked questions
What is the panel cut-out of ATR224?
46 x 46 mm for the 48 x 48 mm front. Panel thickness 2 to 6 mm.
Does ATR224 have serial communication?
The datasheet lists no RS485 port for ATR224-12ABC; use the ATR144-T or DRR244-T versions if Modbus is needed.
How is it configured?
Keypad, LabSoftview PC software, USB memory card, EASY-UP codes or the MyPixsys app over NFC.
Can it drive a heater directly?
Its relays are rated 2 A resistive, so a contactor or solid state relay on the SSR output is the usual route.
Is Seven Star LLC a Pixsys distributor?
No, we are an independent supplier in Muscat and supply Pixsys items on request rather than acting as a Pixsys channel partner.
