SICK DOS-1205-G Field Connector
Description
DOS-1205-G is a SICK field-wireable M12 female connector (part no. 6009719): female connector, M12, 5-pin, straight, A-coded. The cable is connected by screw-type terminals, so it can be fitted on site to a cable you cut to length, without a pre-moulded assembly.
What the DOS-1205-G is for and how it is fitted
This connector is the straight version, so the cable continues in line with the sensor axis. It suits sensors with an axial plug and installations where there is room behind the sensor.
Permitted cable diameter 4 mm … 6 mm and cross section ≤ 0.75 mm²; current loading 4 A; shielding: unshielded. Connector material PA, colour black, locking nut CuZn, tightening torque 0.6 Nm, enclosure rating IP67 and head temperature range .

Type code DOS-1205-G and part number 6009719
The code of a SICK DOS connector gives the series (DOS), the number of poles (5) and a letter for the housing form (G for straight, W for angled in the two versions on this site). The part number 6009719 is the order key. A 4-pin and a 5-pin M12 connector are not interchangeable, and a connector with a different pole count will not match your sensor.
Other active types in the same SICK family, each with its own part number:
- DOS-1205-GQ (part no. 6021353)
- DOS-1205-W (part no. 6009720)
- DOS-1205-GX (part no. 6047950)

Wiring and assembly notes
Strip the cable to the lengths shown in the SICK assembly instructions, insert the wires into the screw terminals using the contact numbers, and tighten the nut to 0.6 Nm. The cable diameter must fall inside the 4 mm … 6 mm range for the seal to hold the stated rating. Unshielded connectors do not provide a screen connection, so choose a shielded version where the sensor cable needs it.
Because this connector is wired in the field, it suits cut-to-length runs where a moulded cable would be too long or too short. Match the cable outer diameter and the core cross-section to the limits in the data sheet, confirm the five-pin assignment against the device you connect, and tighten the housing as the data sheet describes so the sealing stays effective.
When a field-wireable connector is the better choice
Moulded cordsets are convenient, but they come in fixed lengths and force you to coil or extend cable when the distance does not match. A field-wireable connector such as the DOS-1205-G lets the installer use cable from a drum, cut it to the exact route length and terminate it on site. This keeps cable trays tidy, reduces spare stock of different cordset lengths and makes it easier to repair a damaged cable end without replacing the whole run.
- Confirm that the device has a five-pin, A-coded M12 male receptacle with an axial orientation that suits a straight connector.
- Check the outer diameter of the cable you intend to use against the permitted range before buying either item.
- Make sure the conductor cross-section and the current of the circuit stay within the data sheet limits.
- Decide whether the signal needs a screened cable; this type is unshielded.
Good practice during assembly and commissioning
Work on a clean bench or in a sheltered spot whenever possible, because sand or moisture trapped inside the housing during assembly will stay there once it is closed. Use the correct stripping lengths, avoid nicking the conductor insulation, and check that no stray strands can bridge two terminals. After assembly, gently pull each conductor to make sure the screw terminal holds it.
Before connecting the device, test continuity and check for shorts between contacts with a meter, then compare the wiring against the pin assignment of the sensor or actuator. Once plugged in, tighten the locking nut to the specified torque; overtightening the plastic housing does not improve sealing and may damage it.
Use in GCC plants and outdoor installations
Machines and conveyors in Oman and the Gulf are often exposed to dust, high temperatures and washdown or coastal humidity. The connector is listed with an IP67 enclosure rating and a wide head operating temperature range, but that rating depends on correct assembly and the right cable diameter. Route cables so water drains away from the connector rather than toward it, and avoid direct sun on cables where possible to reduce ageing of the sheath. During routine maintenance, check the locking nut is still tight and inspect the cable entry for cracks or signs of strain.
Information for your RFQ
Please state the type code DOS-1205-G and part number 6009719, the quantity, and the device the connector will mate with. If you are unsure whether a straight or angled form suits the installation space, describe the mounting position and we can compare it with the related types listed above.
Documents and quotation
We attach SICK’s own data sheet for part no. 6009719 (DOS-1205-G) as an unaltered PDF; use it to compare dimensions, connections and ratings with the device on your machine. Send the type code and part number with quantity and delivery location through the RFQ form and we will quote. Related items are listed under Automation Accessories. Please verify the variant against the nameplate of the device you are replacing, since similar types differ in small details. The data sheet is the authority.

About brand
Machine builders have relied on SICK since 1946 for the sensors that tell a controller where a part, a pallet or a person is. The company, based in Waldkirch, Germany, makes photoelectric, inductive and magnetic sensors, distance sensors and safety devices. Seven Star LLC supplies SICK sensors to maintenance teams and integrators in Oman, mostly as exact replacements identified by type code and part number.
SICK sensor families on this page
Five of the SICK families listed here are described below. The W4 miniature photoelectric sensors include the WTB4-3, a proximity sensor with background suppression. IME is the standard inductive proximity line, and the IME18 is the M18 housing size. RZT7 cylinder sensors fit T-slot pneumatic cylinders and detect the piston magnet. The DT35 belongs to the Dx35 laser distance sensors for mid-range measurement. The microScan3 is a safety laser scanner that guards hazardous zones around machines and vehicles.
Where SICK sensors are used
SICK sensors are fitted on packaging and bottling lines, conveyors, palletizers, warehouse cranes and automated guided vehicles. Safety laser scanners protect robot cells and transfer cars. In process plants, the same proximity and cylinder sensors report valve and damper positions on packaged equipment.
Ordering SICK sensors: what we need
A SICK type code such as IME18-08NPSZW2K packs the whole specification into one string: housing size, sensing range, flush or non-flush mounting, output type and connection. Each variant also has a 7-digit part number, and that number is the safest identifier. Please send:
- Type code and part number from the sensor label, or a photo of it
- Output type (PNP or NPN, normally open or closed) and connection (cable length or M8/M12 plug)
- For microScan3: variant (Core or Pro), interface, protective field range, plus system plug and bracket
We check the code in SICK's documentation and tell you if the manufacturer lists a successor.
