Helukabel H07RN-F Heavy Duty Rubber Cable

Description

The Helukabel H07RN-F is a heavy-duty rubber-sheathed flexible cable, 450/750 V, with rubber core insulation and a black rubber sheath. It is the standard answer for portable tools, temporary site distribution, generators, pumps and mobile equipment on construction and fabrication sites, because the sheath resists oil and weather and the cable stays flexible in heat and cold. Helukabel lists it as H07RN-F with HAR approval; the 07RN-F version is built in alignment with the same standard.

Where the cable is used

Helukabel describes it as a heavy-duty, rubber-sheathed cable for medium mechanical stress in dry, damp and wet rooms, in agricultural premises and outdoors. Typical uses named in the data sheet are equipment in commercial operations such as heating plates, hand lamps and electric tools like drills and circular saws, as well as fixed installation on plaster and in temporary constructions. When it is installed in pipes or similar enclosed systems, it is permitted up to 1000 V AC or 750 V DC against earth.

Compared with PVC flexible cable, the rubber compound keeps its flexibility at low temperature and withstands abrasion and oil. Because the permitted conductor temperature is +60 °C, check the ambient temperature and the grouping of cables on reels before choosing a cross-section. Cable reels should be fully unwound under load.

Core counts and sizes

37019 2×1 7.7 – 10.0 98.0
37029 3 G 2.5 10.9 – 14.0 235.0
37049 4 G 10 20.9 – 26.5 950.0

37059 4 G 240 72.0 – 91.0 12100.0
37076 27 G 2.5 30.0 – 37.0 1521.0
40156 36 G 1 27.4 – 29.4 1030.0

Sizes in the data sheet run from single-core and two-core 1 mm² to large cross-sections such as 4 G 240 mm². The outer diameter varies between a minimum and a maximum value, so allow for the maximum when choosing glands and reel capacity.

How the Helukabel H07RN-F works

The H07RN-F is a flexible power cable with finely stranded bare copper conductors, rubber core insulation and a black rubber sheath. The fine strands let the cable bend again and again without breaking, and the rubber keeps it soft in cold and hot weather. The sheath resists oil and weather, so the cable can lie on the ground, run over a drum or be pulled around a site. It is rated 450/750 V and meets the DIN VDE 0285-525-2-21 standard for the H07RN-F type.

Where the H07RN-F is used

  • Portable electric tools such as drills and circular saws
  • Temporary power distribution on building and fabrication sites
  • Generators and mobile pumps
  • Hand lamps and heating plates
  • Dry, damp and wet rooms, agricultural premises and outdoors

Selection checklist for the H07RN-F

  • Number of cores and conductor cross-section
  • Nominal voltage of 450/750 V
  • Earth core, marked green-yellow, from three cores up
  • Temperature range from -25 to 60 degrees C when flexible
  • Minimum bending radius for the installation
  • Oil and weather resistance of the sheath
  • Length on the drum or the cut length
  • Approvals needed, such as HAR

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes

Respect the bending radius, which is 4 times the outer diameter for fixed laying, 5 times when winding on drums and 7.5 times over rollers. Keep the tensile stress below 15 N per square millimetre. Unroll a cable fully from a drum before it carries heavy load, so heat does not build up in the coils. Check the sheath for cuts before each use, and take damaged lengths out of service.
