Brand:

Pfannenberg PFH 650 Compact Fan Heater, 200-1200 W Range

Description

Compact PTC fan heaters from 200 to 1200 W

The Pfannenberg PFH 650 is part of the PFH compact fan-heater range, eight PTC heaters from 200 to 1200 W in one small plastic housing. A built-in fan moves the warmed air, so the heat spreads through the enclosure faster than with a convection-only heater, and the PTC element limits its own temperature. The housing mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail or on the wall with four M5 screws.

The design has a low surface temperature, a finger guard at the air inlet and outlet and a plug-in terminal connector, which makes it suitable for control cabinets, switchgear and junction boxes in which maintenance staff may reach in. A variant with an integrated thermostat is also made.

Common data: maximum surface temperature 55 °C for the 200 to 500 W units and 70 °C for the 650 to 1200 W units; operating temperature -40 to +70 °C; protection IP 20 and protection class II; housing plastic UL 94 V-0, black; rated voltage 230 V AC 50/60 Hz with a functional range of 104-127 V or 207-258 V; maximum pre-fuse T 10 A for the 650 to 1200 W units; air flow 50 m³/h for the 200 to 500 W units and 50 or 80 m³/h for the larger units as printed on the sheet.

Choosing the heater output

The correct output depends on the enclosure volume, its surface area and material, the minimum ambient temperature and the heat released by the equipment. As a rule of thumb used by designers, a fan heater is preferred over a radiant heater when the enclosure is tall or crowded, because forced air avoids hot spots and cold pockets. Place the PFH low in the enclosure, with its outlet pointing upward along a free path, and do not block the inlet or outlet with cables.

Use a thermostat such as the FLZ 520 (heater) or the FLZ 541 twin version to switch it, and a hygrostat where humidity is the main risk. The sheet lists a hygrostat (17207000000) and an internal enclosure fan (18110000000) as accessories.

What to confirm before ordering

Confirm the supply voltage (230 V or 115 V article number), the heating output, the available mounting method and the load rating of the controlling thermostat contact: the starting current column above shows what the thermostat or contactor must carry. The manufacturer page lists UKCA conformity, UL recognised certificates to UL 499 and UL 508 and a CSA certificate for this range; confirm the exact certificate for the article number if a project requires it.

How the Pfannenberg PFH 650 works

The PFH 650 heats the air inside an electrical cabinet. A PTC element is a heating part whose resistance rises with temperature, so it limits its own heat and does not run away. A small fan blows air across the element and out of the housing. The moving air carries warmth through the cabinet and prevents cold pockets and condensation on live parts. A thermostat or hygrostat usually switches the heater on at low temperature or high humidity.

Where the Pfannenberg PFH 650 is used

  • Control cabinets
  • Switchgear enclosures
  • Junction boxes
  • Outdoor and unheated installations
  • Cabinets that hold humidity-sensitive equipment

Selection checklist for the Pfannenberg PFH 650

  • Heating output from 200 to 1200 W
  • Enclosure volume and surface
  • Lowest ambient temperature
  • Heat released by the equipment
  • Supply of 230 V or 115 V
  • DIN rail or wall mounting
  • Thermostat or hygrostat to switch it
  • Version with built-in thermostat

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes for the PFH 650

Mount the heater low in the cabinet, on a 35 mm DIN rail or with four M5 screws. Leave the inlet and outlet clear and keep cables away from the air path. Wire it to the supply through the proper pre-fuse and the controlling thermostat. Check the fan and clean dust from the housing during routine service.

Requesting a quotation for the Pfannenberg PFH 650

Please send the heating output, the supply voltage, the enclosure size, the controller and the quantity. Seven Star LLC serves industrial customers in Oman and the GCC and replies with a quotation based on the information provided.

Heater records for the PFH 650

Record the article number, the supply voltage and the thermostat setting.

Choosing the right PFH 650 output

Choose the output from the cabinet volume, the coldest ambient and the heat the equipment gives off.

PFH 650 air flow

The sheet gives an air flow of 50 or 80 cubic metres per hour for the larger units.

PFH 650 pre-fuse

The maximum pre-fuse is T 10 A for the 650 to 1200 W units.

PFH 650 mounting

The housing mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail or on a wall.

Documents and quotation

The Pfannenberg PFH product sheet is attached to this page and is the manufacturer’s own document, not a Seven Star summary. It includes the wiring schematic showing the fan and PTC element. The controlling thermostats and hygrostats are in HVAC & Combustion.

The sheet covers eight outputs; state the exact model and voltage. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, quotes the PFH 200 to PFH 1200 against your application data; send the enclosure size, ambient temperature, supply voltage and quantity so the correct variant and article number can be confirmed before an offer is issued.

About brand

Pfannenberg is a Hamburg-based family company that makes signaling devices and thermal management products for industrial use. Otto Pfannenberg founded the company in 1954, and its history includes the invention of the filter-fan in 1958 and of the electronic flashing beacon in 1962.

Pfannenberg signaling range

The signaling range covers PATROL and PYRA combined sounders and flashing lights, PROTECT sounders for hazardous areas, and INTENSE modular signal towers. PATROL PA X units are offered from 105 dB(A) to 122 dB(A), and the PRO 10-Ex sounder is specified for zone 2 and zone 22 explosive atmospheres with Ex ec and Ex tc protection.

Requesting a quote for Pfannenberg devices

Send the article number or the full device designation, such as PA X 1-05, together with the supply voltage, lens colour, housing colour and any approval the project requires, for example EN 54-3 or an Ex certificate. Pfannenberg approvals apply to specific versions, so the exact article number is needed to confirm them.
