Contrinex DW-AS-623-M30-693 Weld-Immune M30 Inductive Sensor

Description

A coated inductive sensor made for the welding cell

The Contrinex DW-AS-623-M30-693 is the large-format M30 weld-immune inductive sensor of the Classics 600 range. Its coated V2A body and ceramic sensing face give a 14 mm embeddable sensing distance, which suits heavy fixtures, large clamps and conveyor positions in welding and fabrication areas.

The output is PNP normally open on an M12 4-pin connector, the supply is 10 to 30 VDC and the enclosure rating is IP67, with the datasheet listing magnetic field resistance in welding applications as a main feature.

Selection and installation notes

The long 14 mm distance reduces the risk of a target hitting the sensing face and makes alignment less critical, but the metal-free zone is also larger (35 mm around the face and 100 mm in front). A 137 g body needs a solid bracket, and the maximum tightening torque of 150 Nm should be respected. On aluminum the distance falls to about 0.7 of the steel value, so use the datasheet correction factors for non-ferrous targets.

The switching frequency of 15 Hz suits slow positioning and presence checks rather than counting fast parts.

How the Contrinex DW-AS-623-M30-693 works

An inductive sensor makes a high-frequency magnetic field at its sensing face. When a metal target enters the field, eddy currents change the oscillator and the sensor switches its output. In a welding cell, strong magnetic fields from the welding current can disturb an ordinary sensor, and sparks can damage its face. The DW-AS-623-M30-693 is built to resist this. It has a ceramic sensing face and a V2A stainless steel body with an anti-spatter coating. The output is PNP normally open, and a yellow LED shows the switching state.

Where the DW-AS-623-M30-693 is used

  • Clamp position checks on welding fixtures.
  • Part presence on robot welding cells.
  • Conveyor positions in fabrication lines.
  • Heavy tooling that needs a long sensing distance.
  • Areas with weld spatter and strong magnetic fields.

Selection checklist for the DW-AS-623-M30-693

  • Coated version, DW-AS-623-M30-693, or the uncoated version, DW-AS-623-M30-673.
  • Rated operating distance of 14 mm, embeddable.
  • Target material and its correction factor, such as 1 for steel and 0.7 for aluminium.
  • Output type: PNP normally open, on pin 4 of the M12 4-pin connector.
  • Supply of 10 to 30 V DC and a load current of up to 200 mA.
  • Switching frequency of up to 15 Hz.
  • Ambient range of -25 to +70 degrees C.
  • IP67 enclosure and a weight of 137 g.
  • Metal-free zone around the sensing face.
  • Mounting bracket suited to the M30 body and the tightening torque.

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes

Fit the sensor in a solid bracket, with the sensing face toward the target, and respect the metal-free zone given in the datasheet. Do not tighten the nut above 150 Nm. Connect an M12 cable with the correct pin layout and check the PNP load wiring. Set the target position so it operates within the assured distance, which is 81 percent of the rated distance at most. During service, wipe off spatter when the coating is covered and check the cable and the connector for damage.

Requesting a quotation for the Contrinex DW-AS-623-M30-693

Send the target material, the supply and the cable type you need. Seven Star LLC serves industrial customers in Oman and the GCC and replies with a quotation based on the information provided.

Target correction

Use the correction factors of the datasheet for materials other than steel, because brass raises and stainless steel lowers the distance.

Slow positioning duty

With a switching frequency of 15 Hz, the sensor suits presence and position checks rather than counting fast parts.

Protection functions

The sensor has short-circuit and voltage reversal protection.

Sensor records

Record the part reference and the fixture position in the maintenance list.

Welding cell layout

In a welding cell the sensor should be placed so that the arc and the torch cannot hit it directly. Keep a margin between the sensing face and the clamp arm, and route the cable along a protected path, away from the hot area and from moving parts.

Documents and quotation

The attached Contrinex datasheet lists every part reference of the series, correction factors, installation distances and connector pin assignment. When requesting a quotation, send the part reference, quantity, target material and mounting arrangement, and state whether a coated or uncoated version is required.

Contrinex product series

Weld-immune inductive sensors include the DW-AS-623-M12-693, DW-AS-623-M18-693 and DW-AS-623-M30-693, which resist the strong magnetic fields of resistance welding.

IO-Link versions include the DW-AS-703-M8-697, DW-AS-703-M12-693, DW-AS-703-M18-693 and DW-AS-713-M30-693, which send switching and diagnostic data to the controller.

Weld-immune sensors have full metal housings and coatings that resist weld spatter and strong magnetic fields, so they do not switch falsely during welding. IO-Link versions allow remote configuration and diagnostics through an IO-Link master.
