Brand:

DEIF SGC 420 Mk II Single Genset Controller with Breaker Keys

Description

Genset controller with breaker keys, site battery and shelter monitoring

The DEIF SGC 420 Mk II has the functions needed to protect and control a genset, a genset breaker and a mains breaker. Compared with the SGC 120 Mk II, it has a larger front panel with dedicated mains and genset breaker keys, shutdown, warning and notification LEDs, an acknowledge key and a TEST mode. It also adds monitoring that is specific to remote and telecom sites: a differential site battery input and shelter temperature monitoring.

DEIF states that the controller can monitor the site battery and significantly reduce fuel consumption, and it also monitors engine and alternator parameters and true RMS voltage and current. Modes of operation are island, AMF, remote start and stop, auto exercise, cyclic, site battery monitoring and shelter temperature, night restriction mode and engine drive.

Protections

Generator protections include two stages each of voltage and frequency, unbalanced load, over-current, overload, low load, reverse power, phase reversal and earth leakage or fan current. Engine protections cover speed, battery, charging alternator, pre-heat, coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, fuel theft and ECU communication failure and diagnostic lamps. Mains protections cover voltage, frequency and phase reversal, and other protections cover the site battery and shelter temperature.

Counters include running hours, start attempts, energy (kWh, kVAh, kvarh) and maintenance. Configuration is with Smart Connect Mk II over USB, with M-Logic for custom logic, and an SGC can be used as a remote display for another SGC controller using the RDC 100 software over CAN.

Which SGC to choose

Pick the SGC 420 Mk II for remote and telecom-type sites that need site battery and shelter monitoring, for installations where operators close and open breakers from the controller, or where the I/O count of the SGC 120 Mk II is too small. For small sets with simple I/O the SGC 120 Mk II is the more compact choice. Confirm the engine ECU protocol, sensor types, CT ratios and the breaker control scheme, and name the exact model including Mk II in the enquiry.

About brand

DEIF is a Danish, family-owned and independent manufacturer of control and protection devices for power generation, founded in a Copenhagen backyard in 1933 and now based in Skive. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, quotes DEIF AGC, SGC and CGC genset controllers for standby plants, paralleling systems and engine-driven sets.

DEIF genset and power management controllers

DEIF describes itself as a supplier of power control solutions for decentralised power generation on land and at sea. Its genset controllers range from the compact SGC and CGC units to the AGC 150 and AGC-4 Mk II controllers, which add synchronisation and power management for plants with many gensets. DEIF data sheets state the supply range, I/O, protections and approvals of each controller.

Ordering DEIF controllers

Name the exact model and variant, the software package or option letters where they apply, the quantity and the engine make and ECU protocol. DEIF configures several controllers by variant and option, so the data sheet on each page should be checked against the project before a quotation is issued.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the SGC 420 Mk II add over the SGC 120 Mk II?
More I/O, a larger front panel with breaker keys and LEDs, earth leakage and fan current monitoring, and site battery and shelter temperature monitoring.
