A compact inline single-stage pump with an integrated or IEC motor
The Sulzer SIL is an inline single-stage centrifugal pump range designed to ISO 5199 and to meet efficiency regulations; Sulzer states that the whole range exceeds the EU ErP minimum efficiency index MEI 0.4. A monoblock construction without a separate bearing unit keeps it compact, rigid and low on maintenance, and the pump can be installed vertically or horizontally in the piping. It is meant for clean and slightly contaminated liquids, clean viscous liquids up to 250 cSt and fibrous slurries up to 1 percent consistency.

SIL with integrated motor or IEC motor
With an integrated motor the impeller is mounted directly on the motor shaft, so no baseplate grouting or pump-to-motor alignment is needed and the footprint is small. The SD version uses a flange-mounted IEC standard motor connected through a coupling, giving a larger power range and IE3 or IE4 motor classes. Balancing holes and the large seal chamber bore improve flow and pressure around the shaft seal, which extends seal life and avoids dry running of single seals across a wide operating area.
Applications
Sulzer names oil and gas, hydrocarbon processing, power generation, pulp, paper and board, chemical process, water and wastewater and general industry. Typical use includes cooling and circulation, transfer and boosting where an API 610 pump is not required. Pressure sewer systems that discharge through narrow pipe rely on grinder pumps, and the ABS Piranha is the Sulzer answer to that duty. Sulzer has worked in pumps and fluid engineering since 1834 from Winterthur, Switzerland. Seven Star LLC lists the Sulzer ABS Piranha PIR-S21/2 submersible grinder pump and supplies Sulzer pumps and parts to utilities and contractors in Oman.
Sulzer ABS Piranha grinder pump series
The Piranha range is split into the S series, which includes the S21, and the PE series with IE3 motors. In front of the impeller sit a spiral bottom plate, a stationary cutter ring and a shredding rotor that cut cloths and plastic before they reach the hydraulics. The bottom plate is adjustable to take up wear. Versions exist for 50 Hz and 60 Hz, three-phase 400 V and single-phase 230 V supplies.
