Rockwell Automation Allen-Bradley 2800E-ANA-S OptixEdge Standard Edge Gateway
Overview
The Rockwell Automation 2800E-ANA-S is the Allen-Bradley OptixEdge Standard, a compact edge gateway for collecting machine data and providing secure remote access. It is not a display: the unit has no screen and is installed on a DIN rail or in book style inside a control cabinet. It is built around an i.MX 8M Plus processor with 4 GB of RAM, runs Linux Yocto with Docker container support, and is supplied with FactoryTalk Optix in XS size (five tokens) and FactoryTalk Remote Access PRO.
Seven Star LLC supplies the 2800E-ANA-S to machine builders and plant operators across Oman and the GCC. Send the catalog number and the required quantity for a quotation.
Rockwell 2800E-ANA-S OptixEdge: Edge Gateway Hardware and Interfaces
Catalog number 2800E-ANA-S is not a monitor. The Rockwell Automation technical data identifies it as the Allen-Bradley OptixEdge Standard, a compact edge gateway without a screen. The catalog string decodes as follows: 2800E is the bulletin, the first A is the model type Standard (ARM), the next position records that no wireless option is fitted, the second A selects FactoryTalk Optix in XS size with five tokens, and S means standard Allen-Bradley branding. The companion number 2800E-ANB-S carries FactoryTalk Optix S size with eight tokens.
The unit is built around an i.MX 8M Plus processor with 4 GB of RAM. About 12 GB of eMMC storage, operated in pSLC mode, is available to the user application, and a microSD slot accessible from outside allows expansion. The installed operating system is Linux Yocto with support for Docker containers. Besides the FactoryTalk Optix runtime, the gateway includes FactoryTalk Remote Access PRO, which is compatible with UBIQUITY, for secure remote assistance on machines and skids.
Connectivity consists of two Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 ports, one USB 3.0 Type-A host port and one isolated RS232/422/485 serial port on a DB9 male connector. Two opto-isolated digital inputs (18 to 32 V) are assigned to enabling the remote access network connection and restarting the device. Two solid-state relay outputs, rated 200 mA at 24 V DC, normally open, report the status of the network connection and of an active remote session. A supercapacitor backs up the real-time clock.
OptixEdge 2800E-ANA-S Power, Mounting, Environmental Limits and Certifications
The gateway is powered from 24 V DC, with an accepted range of 18 to 32 V DC from a SELV isolated source, and draws no more than 0.5 A at 24 V. The aluminium housing is rated IP20 and UL Type 1 for indoor use only, so it belongs inside a control cabinet. It can be mounted on DIN rail or in book style against the panel; check the Rockwell dimension drawing before finalising panel layouts.
Operating temperature is 0 to +50 °C and storage is -20 to +60 °C, with 20 to 90 percent relative humidity, non-condensing, and a maximum operating altitude of 2000 m. The unit is tested to 15 g shock (11 ms) in operation and 2.0 g sinusoidal vibration from 57 to 500 Hz. Listed compliance includes CE under the EMC Directive to EN 61326-1, cULus to UL 61010-1 and UL 61010-2-201 for ordinary locations, UKCA, RCM, KC and ODVA conformance. It carries no hazardous-location rating in the technical data.
Key Features
- OptixEdge Standard edge gateway without display
- i.MX 8M Plus processor, 4 GB RAM, about 12 GB application storage, microSD slot
- Linux Yocto operating system with Docker container support
- FactoryTalk Optix XS (5 tokens) and FactoryTalk Remote Access PRO
- 2 x Gigabit Ethernet, 1 x USB 3.0, 1 x isolated RS232/422/485
- 2 opto-isolated digital inputs and 2 solid-state relay outputs
- 24 V DC supply (18 to 32 V DC), 0.5 A maximum
- IP20 aluminium housing for DIN rail or book mounting
Applications
With the FactoryTalk Optix runtime and FactoryTalk Remote Access PRO on board, the OptixEdge is used where data from machines and skids has to be gathered at the edge of the network and where service engineers need secure remote assistance. Its Ethernet and serial ports connect it to controllers and devices in the cabinet, and the digital inputs and relay outputs allow the remote access connection to be enabled and signalled locally.
