Brand:

Streamlight 2AA ProPolymer HAZ-LO ATEX Zone 0 Flashlight

Description

A compact two-cell flashlight rated for Zone 0 gas atmospheres

The Streamlight 2AA ProPolymer HAZ-LO ATEX is the smallest conventional-format flashlight in Streamlight’s hazardous-area line-up that still gives a proper reaching beam. It runs on two AA alkaline cells, weighs 100 g with batteries and puts out 65 lumens and 2,300 candela, enough for about 96 m of beam distance. The ATEX version is marked for Category 1G equipment, so it can be carried into places where an explosive gas atmosphere is present continuously or for long periods.

Its body is an impact-resistant, anti-static engineering polymer, the lens is an unbreakable polycarbonate with a scratch-resistant coating overmolded into the face cap, and a push-button tail switch gives momentary or constant light with one hand. The orange housing is the international safety colour used for the ATEX models.

Reading the ATEX marking and the battery condition

The marking II 1G Ex ia IIC T3/T4 Ga means group II equipment, category 1G, intrinsic-safety protection level ia, gas group IIC (which includes hydrogen and acetylene) and equipment protection level Ga. The temperature class depends on the cell fitted: the fact sheet approves Duracell MN1500 for T3 and Rayovac NO.815 for T4. A T4 flashlight keeps its surface at or below 135 C, so check that the site’s gas ignition temperatures sit above the class you will actually use.

The operating instructions require battery changes in a known non-hazardous area and warn that replacing components can impair intrinsic safety. The torch should be taken out of service if any part of the housing is missing or damaged. The same fact sheet also describes North American Class I Division 1 versions in black or yellow; those are separate models and are not covered by this ATEX item.

Where this model fits and what to pair it with

With 24 hours of run time to the 10% level, the 2AA suits long inspection rounds on offshore platforms, tank farms, fuel-handling areas and paint stores without carrying spares. Pick the 2AAA ProPolymer when pocket size matters more than reach, and the 3AA headlamp when both hands are needed.

Streamlight lists these options on the information sheet: Poly Mount Kit 68089, rubber helmet band 99075, nylon holster 85905, safety wands in red 74903, yellow 74904 and glow-in-the-dark 74913, and flip filters in red 85115, yellow 85116, green 85117 and infrared 74039.

Documents and quotation

The attached Streamlight documents are the fact sheet and the information sheet with item numbers, and the operating instructions. Before ordering, confirm the gas group, temperature class and zone against your hazardous-area classification drawing, and the battery brand permitted by the certificate. Send the item number with the quantity and the zone and gas group drawing for the area. More lighting and electrical items are listed under Electrical & Power.

About brand

Streamlight is a manufacturer of professional flashlights, headlamps, lanterns and scene lights based in Eagleville, Pennsylvania, USA. The company traces its current form to 1973 and describes more than 50 years of designing, manufacturing and marketing durable lighting for firefighting, industrial, law enforcement, military, automotive and outdoor users.

Hazardous-area and industrial lighting

The international safety-rated range includes ATEX and IECEx certified flashlights, headlamps and lanterns, among them the ProPolymer HAZ-LO flashlights, the Dualie dual-beam lights, the Survivor right-angle lights and the Vulcan lanterns. Marking, zone, gas group and temperature class differ by model and by the battery fitted, so the certificate and product label should be checked against the classification of the area. Rechargeable work lights, lanterns and tripod scene lights for unclassified areas complete the range.
