Mapa Professional Alto 299 Natural Latex Chemical Gloves

Description

A thick orange latex glove for prolonged contact

Mapa Alto 299 is a natural latex glove with a flocked interior and an embossed exterior. The band printed on the sheet is prolonged contact or immersion with intermittent wear, which makes it the heavier-duty latex glove in this lane. The material is 0.9 mm thick, which Mapa says gives a longer service life and good impact protection.

It is a Category 3 glove and carries EN ISO 374-1 Type A with letters A, K, L, M, P and T, and EN ISO 374-5 for bacteria and fungi. The length is 31 cm, the cuff straight and the colour orange. Sizes are 7 to 10.

Matching Alto 299 to an acid and alkali task

The test chemicals show where the glove is strong: two strong mineral acids (sulphuric 96% and nitric 65%), sodium hydroxide 40%, hydrogen peroxide 30%, formaldehyde 37% and methanol. It does not list hydrocarbons or ketones, so for solvent work choose a butyl or nitrile glove from the same maker.

The EN 388 code 3121X reads abrasion 3, cut 1, tear 2 and puncture 1. For heavier abrasion work the 0.9 mm wall helps, but latex is not a cut glove. Natural latex proteins can trigger allergies, so offer a nitrile alternative to sensitive users. The wall is 0.9 mm, more than twice the 0.38 mm of the Ultranitril 492, so expect less feel even though both sheets print dexterity 5/5. Choose sizes 7 to 10 and state whether you want bags of 1, 5 pairs or the 50-pair carton.

Use, rinsing and replacement

The sheet recommends this glove for prolonged contact, but all chemical gloves have a limited service time. Set a replacement interval based on the process and discard the glove after a splash of a chemical outside the list.

Rinse the outside in water before removing the gloves, pull them off inside out and let them dry away from heat and sunlight. Do not store latex near oils, which degrade it.

On the regulatory side, the sheet states that the product is not classified as hazardous under Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and that it contains no substance of very high concern above 0.1% and nothing from annex XVII of REACH (1907/2006). The EU type certificate is 0075/014/162/09/18/2001, issued by notified body 0075 (CTC, Lyon), and the quality assurance certificate is 0334 from Asqual, Paris.

Maintenance and cleaning in wet environments

Mapa lists the construction industry (heating engineers and plumbers) and metallurgy, with tasks such as emptying and cleaning septic tanks and maintenance in wet environments with water, oil, greases and hydrocarbons. In plants that includes acid dosing area maintenance, battery rooms and wash bays, subject to the chemical list above.

Selection and care notes

A thick latex glove is suited to long contact, but natural latex can cause allergy, so confirm that users can wear it. Compare the listed chemicals with those on site, inspect for cuts and swelling before use, and rinse, dry and store it flat away from sunlight. Replace it after prolonged chemical exposure even if it looks intact.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Standards, performance levels and sizes are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and construction projects.
