Brand:

Tegera 7788 Goatskin Welding Gloves EN 12477 Type B

Description

A fine-touch welding glove for work that needs feel

Tegera 7788 is the welding glove in the Tegera range built around fingertip sensitivity. The palm and the back of the hand are both made from top-quality black full grain goatskin, joined to a cow split leather safety cuff. Goat grain is thin and supple, so the glove suits jobs such as TIG welding, fit-up and tacking where a thicker cowhide gauntlet would feel clumsy.

Ejendals describes it as a premium welding glove with extremely good fingertip sensitivity, extra flexibility and a perfect fit. It is classed as a light-weight glove and is unlined, so heat does not build up inside it the way it can in a lined gauntlet. The data sheet lists it under both heat protection gloves and welding gloves, and it carries EN 12477 Type B, the type used for welding gloves where dexterity matters more than maximum protection (general standard information).

Choosing 7788 for the right welding task

The EN 407 code 412X4X reads as burning behaviour 4, contact heat 1, convective heat 2, radiant heat not tested, small splashes of molten metal 4 and large quantities of molten metal not tested (code structure from EN 407). The sheet also states heat resistance up to 100 C contact heat, which is the level 1 figure. Treat it as a glove for controlled, lower-heat welding and not for heavy overhead or high-amperage stick welding with large molten metal exposure; for that, check a heavier gauntlet.

The EN 388 result 2111X means abrasion 2, blade cut 1, tear 1 and puncture 1, with impact not tested. Six sizes are listed, 7 to 12 (S to 3XL), so measure the hand and choose the closest size, because a goatskin glove that is too loose loses the fingertip feel it is chosen for. Send the article number with the size, for example 7788-9, and confirm the quantity in full bundles of 6 pairs when you request a quotation.

Wear, limits and care

The sheet carries a clear warning: this model is not intended for use in wet conditions. Wet leather conducts heat faster and shrinks as it dries, so keep the glove dry, and replace it when the palm leather becomes hard or cracked. The environments printed for the glove are dry, clean, warm, moist, dirty and harsh, with the wet warning above taking priority.

Ejendals fits the glove with heat-resistant thread and reinforced seams at the stress points. Inspect the seams and the folded fingertips before every shift. Do not use a glove that is contaminated with oil or solvent near hot work, and store it flat away from direct sun and moisture.

Where Tegera 7788 is used

The sheet lists welding, hot work, metalwork, sheet-metal work, foundry, glass industry work, petro-chemical work, installation work, marine work and mining among the areas of use. The listed industries include oil and gas extraction, chemical and petrochemical, basic metals and metal fabrication, electricity and gas supply, and building and construction. In Gulf yards and fabrication shops this typically means pipe and structural fit-up, tack welding and TIG root passes where a lighter glove keeps control of the torch.

About brand

Tegera is the safety glove brand of Ejendals AB, a Swedish maker based in Leksand. Each Tegera glove is sold under a short model number, and the product sheet for that number prints the EN 388, EN 407, EN 511 or EN ISO 374-1 results behind the markings.

Seven Star LLC lists Tegera gloves for welding, chemical handling, cut risk, cold weather and power-tool work, and supplies them to contractors and plant owners in Oman against the exact model number and size.

The range here covers the Welding 7788 goatskin glove, the Chemforce 7350 winter-lined nitrile and Chemforce 8160 latex gloves, the Oil Grip 8855 and ultra-thin 8846 cut resistant gloves, the 8821 high-visibility knit, the Pro 9102, Pro 9126 and anti-vibration Pro 9180A, and the Dynamic Strength 7776 impact and cut glove.

Where Tegera gloves are used

Welding and fabrication yards, chemical and petrochemical handling, mechanical maintenance with oily parts, cold stores and grinding or chipping work are the usual places. The Ejendals data sheets name oil and gas extraction, metal fabrication, mining and building among their industries.

Ordering Tegera gloves: what we need

Send the model number, the size and the number of pairs. Ejendals article numbers add the size, for example 7788-9 for a large. For chemical gloves also give the substances, because the permeation results are printed for only a few test chemicals.
