Mapa Professional Butoflex 650 Butyl Chemical Gloves
Description
A butyl glove with a textile lining for the harshest acids and ketones
Mapa Butoflex 650 is a butyl rubber glove that Mapa says is the first butyl glove on the market with a fabric inner lining. It is a chemical protection glove for ultra-comfort wear, offering what the sheet calls ultimate specific chemical resistance to very corrosive acids, ketones, esters and amine derivatives.
The glove is 35 cm long and 1.45 mm thick with an embossed exterior and a festooned (feston) cuff. It is Category 3, EN ISO 374-1 Type A with nine letters, A B C I L M N O S, and EN 374-5 for bacteria and fungi. The material is silicone free so it can be used before painting or glass finishing without defects.

Why the chemical list matters for butyl
Butyl is the usual choice for ketones and esters, which natural latex and nitrile handle poorly, and this is visible in the list: acetone, ethyl acetate, acetonitrile and methanol, together with sulphuric, nitric, acetic and hydrofluoric acids and ammonia. Nine letters make it the broadest chemical list among the Mapa gloves in this lane.
The mechanical rating is low (1121X: abrasion 1, cut 1, tear 2, puncture 1), so butyl chemical protection comes with minimal mechanical protection. Pair it with a mechanical glove over the top if rough handling is expected. Order sizes 7 to 11; they are supplied one pair per bag, six pairs per carton.
Wearing butyl for long periods
The textile lining wicks sweat and eases donning, which is the point of this construction in comparison with unlined butyl. The feston cuff gives a rolled edge that helps keep drips out of the sleeve.
Inspect the glove for cracks before use, and keep it away from ozone sources, strong sunlight and heat, which age butyl. The EN 1149-1 surface resistance of 2.0E+5 ohm is a measured value, and the sheet makes no ATEX claim.
Chemical plants, laboratories and coating shops
Mapa lists the chemical industry, metallurgy and healthcare (pharmaceutical industry), with tasks such as formulating paints, varnishes, resins and inks, handling and repotting chemicals, sampling chemicals, metal treatment and degreasing and laboratory handling. These tasks are common in petrochemical sample rooms, coating workshops and laboratories.
Selection and care notes
Butyl gloves resist many polar chemicals but are not suited to every substance, for example some hydrocarbons, so check the listed test chemicals against the safety data sheets before use. Inspect for pinholes before each use, rinse and dry after use, store flat away from sunlight and replace after long or severe exposure.
Before ordering, compare the ratings on the data sheet with the project specification, check the connection sizes and the supply conditions, and confirm which accessories, spares and documents travel with the unit. On delivery, inspect the packing, compare the nameplate with the order and keep the manual with the site records so that later commissioning and maintenance work can follow the maker instructions. Ask us if any detail is unclear and we will check it with the supplier before the order is placed.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full product code, the size range, the quantity in pairs, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC and the hazards the item must cover, so that the complete supply can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Standards, performance levels and sizes are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and construction projects.
