Lovato SM1R1400 9-14 A Motor Protection Circuit Breaker
Description
Thermal-magnetic starter protection set between 9 and 14 A
Where a motor feeder needs a switch, overload protection and short-circuit protection in one place, the three-pole SM1R1400 from the Lovato Electric SM1 range does all three; the overload dial adjusts over 9-14 A.
Rated current In is 14 A; the thermal release adjusts 9-14 A and the magnetic release trips at 13 x In. Breaking capacity values are listed as 100 kA at 400 V, 100 kA at 440 V and 4 kA at 690 V. The tripping class is 10A.

Reading the ratings
A motor with a full-load current between 9 and 14 A fits this device. Set the thermal dial to the nameplate value, not to a higher figure for margin, since the dial is the overload setting.
At 400 V the breaking capacity is 100 kA (Icu) and 100 kA (Ics). Compare that with the fault level at your board, and look at the 440 V to 690 V columns where the figures can drop sharply.
Installation and typical use
These breakers replace the fuse-plus-overload-relay combination in many direct-on-line starters. Combined with a contactor of matching size they form a type-coordinated starter in a width of about 45 mm.
The device weighs 390 g and clips onto a 35 mm DIN rail. Heat loss of 1.13 W to 2.73 W per pole is small but adds up in a crowded motor control centre.
Documents and quotation
The figures above are those printed in the manufacturer’s datasheet for SM1R1400, supplied here as an attached English PDF from the Lovato catalogue. Please confirm the motor full-load current, the supply voltage and the prospective short-circuit current at the panel before you order, and note that the manufacturer may revise datasheet values. Related items are listed under circuit breakers. To request SM1R1400, send the quantity and delivery location with the quotation form; Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier based in Muscat.

About brand
Lovato Electric is the Italian manufacturer of low-voltage electrical components for industrial automation and power distribution: contactors, motor protection circuit breakers, soft starters, variable speed drives, power factor controllers, transfer switch and generator controllers, and energy meters. It was founded in Bergamo in 1922 and has been run by the same family for four generations. Its headquarters is in Gorle, near Bergamo, and it celebrated its centenary in 2022.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Lovato motor control, drives and power management products, and supply them to panel builders, contractors and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC by order code.

Lovato order codes describe the product. On a contactor such as BF0910A230, "BF09" is the frame and rated current (9 A in AC-3), "10" is the built-in auxiliary contact (one normally open), "A" means an AC coil and "230" is the coil voltage. The coil voltage must match the control circuit exactly, so it is the most common detail to check when replacing one. For motors, a soft starter limits the inrush current at start and stop, while a variable speed drive controls the speed continuously and saves energy on pumps and fans that do not need full flow all the time.
Where Lovato products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Lovato components are built into motor control centres, pump and HVAC panels, capacitor banks for power factor correction, generator and ATS panels, and machine control panels for industry, water and buildings.
