Brand: Atos
Atos ARE Direct Poppet Pressure Relief Valve, In-Line
Description
A threaded in-line relief valve for pressure protection
The Atos ARE is a direct-operated, poppet-type pressure relief valve with threaded ports for in-line mounting. Flow from P to T starts when the pressure force on the poppet overcomes the spring force; turning the adjustment screw (or an optional handwheel or knob) clockwise raises the setting. It comes in two sizes, with port P at G1/4 or G1/2, and is used as a circuit safety valve, a small accumulator or cylinder protection valve and a pressure limiter in power packs and test rigs.
Atos offers a leak-free execution (R), a leak-free version with lead-sealed regulation (RS) that follows the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, and manual regulation by handwheel, knob or lockable knob. The RS valve is factory preset to the cracking pressure you specify.

Choosing the setting range
Pick the valve whose maximum setting is just above your working relief pressure. Each maximum-setting code has its own regulation band; for example the ARE-06 with a 350 bar code regulates from 15 to 350 bar, while the 100 bar code regulates from 3 to 100 bar. Working near the bottom of a band gives a wider pressure rise with flow, so use the regulated-pressure-versus-flow diagrams in the datasheet for the flow you expect to dump.
The order code is ARE-06/300/RS/280, read as valve type, size, maximum setting, construction option and factory setting. A leak-free poppet matters when the valve guards an accumulator or a clamping circuit that must hold pressure; the RS option fits machines that need a tamper-evident, sealed setting.
What to confirm before ordering
State the port size, the maximum setting code, the set cracking pressure for RS valves, the fluid and the seal material. Check that pressure at the T port stays below 250 bar. Other Atos relief valves, including the piloted subplate AGAM, are listed under hydraulic valves and components.
How the Atos ARE relief valve works
The ARE is a direct-operated valve with a poppet held on its seat by a spring. Port P is connected to the pressure line and port T to the tank. While the line pressure is below the setting, the poppet stays closed. When the pressure force on the poppet exceeds the spring force, the poppet lifts and the oil flows from P to T, which limits the pressure. Turning the adjustment screw clockwise compresses the spring and raises the setting. The valve closes again when the pressure falls.
Where the Atos ARE is used
- Safety valve in small hydraulic circuits
- Protection of cylinders and accumulators
- Pressure limiter in power packs
- Test rigs and bench circuits
- Pressure limit in clamping circuits
Selection checklist for the Atos ARE
- Size: ARE-06 with G1/4 or ARE-15 with G1/2
- Maximum setting and regulation range
- Flow rate in l/min
- Leak-free option R or lead-sealed option RS
- Handwheel, knob or lockable knob
- Seal material: NBR, FKM or low-temperature NBR
- Back pressure at port T, up to 250 bar
- Fluid type and temperature
Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes for the Atos ARE
The valve can be fitted in any position. Connect P to the pressure line and T to the tank with a short, free return line, because back pressure adds to the setting. Start with the setting at minimum, run the pump and raise the setting slowly while watching a gauge. Lock the screw when the pressure is correct. Keep the oil to ISO 4406 class 20/18/15 or cleaner.
Requesting a quotation for the Atos ARE
Please send the size, the setting range, the flow rate, the seal material and the regulation type. Seven Star LLC serves industrial customers in Oman and the GCC and replies with a quotation based on the information provided.
Atos ARE pressure ranges
The ARE-06 is available with ranges up to 50, 100, 210, 350 and 500 bar. The ARE-15 goes up to 15, 50, 75, 150, 250, 350 and 420 bar.
Atos ARE flow limits
The standard valve passes up to 40 l/min in the small size and 75 l/min in the large size. The RS version is listed at 60 and 100 l/min.
Atos ARE temperature and seals
With NBR seals the fluid can be minus 20 to plus 80 degrees C, and the HFC limit is plus 50 degrees C. FKM seals are used with the PE option.
Atos ARE finish and mass
The body has a zinc coating with black passivation. The mass is about 1.0 kg for the small size and 1.3 kg for the large size.
Hydraulic records for the Atos ARE
Note the valve setting, the date and the gauge reading in the machine file.
Choosing the right Atos ARE range
Choose the range so that the working pressure sits in the middle of the adjustment span, because the setting is then more stable.

Frequently Asked Questions
RS is a leak-free valve with a factory-preset, lead-sealed regulation that conforms to Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. The factory pressure you specify corresponds to the cracking pressure of the valve.
The size sets the port thread: G1/4 for ARE-06 and G1/2 for ARE-15. The larger valve handles up to 75 l/min in standard form against 40 l/min, and has its own set of maximum pressure codes.
