HOPPECKE grid | Xtreme VR 12-150 AGM Battery 12 V 159 Ah
Description
grid | Xtreme VR 12-150 is a 12 V monobloc battery of the HOPPECKE grid | Xtreme VR series, an AGM valve-regulated lead-acid design built on 99.99 percent pure lead electrodes. The data sheet gives it 159 Ah at the 10-hour rate to 1.80 volts per cell at 20 °C, in a block of 359 x 174 x 283 mm weighing about 46.3 kg with M8 female terminals.
A pure lead AGM block for hot battery rooms and standby parallel service
HOPPECKE calls the Xtreme VR the next generation of real pure lead AGM batteries. The maker deliberately chose better corrosion resistance, which keeps service life long in high-current duty and at high ambient temperature, the telecom case named in the data sheet. The 12-150 sits between the 12-130 (134 Ah) and the 12-170 (180 Ah).
Enhanced Stability Standard (ESS) technology improves resilience against thermal runaway and charge acceptance, a dual-pole design allows impedance measurement, and optional safeguard-tec keeps the top-terminal case dimensionally stable.
Features stated in the data sheet
- Operating temperature range from -40 °C to +55 °C, with the upper limit raised from the usual 45 °C; the manual adds short peaks up to 60 °C.
- Recommended float voltage 2.3 volts per cell at 20 °C (2.288 at 25 °C); storage time extended up to 2 years.
- 15 years design life, classified Very Long Life (over 12 years) under the Eurobat Guide 2015, designed to be compliant with IEC 60896-21/22.
- UL recognized component; flame-retardant UL94 V-0, halogen-free PC-ABS case; no water refilling needed.
- Non-spillable classification and approval as non-hazardous cargo for land, sea and air (ADR/RID, IMDG, IATA).

Choosing a type within the grid | Xtreme VR range
The top-terminal table lists five blocks: 12-80 (83 Ah, 254 x 174 x 233 mm, about 25.8 kg), 12-110 (110 Ah, 320 mm long), 12-130 (134 Ah, 42.7 kg), 12-150 (159 Ah) and 12-170 (180 Ah, 498 mm long, 51.4 kg). A second table covers front-terminal FT blocks for 19 inch and 23 inch cabinets, such as 12-100 FT 19 inch (96 Ah) and 12-190 FT (187 Ah).
Choose top terminals for racks or the grid | XtremeStack, FT where front access is needed. Size the string from your load profile and the constant-power figures, and confirm the exact type code before ordering.
Installation, charging and commissioning notes from the manual
Fully charged blocks read 12.78 V to 13.08 V open-circuit at 20 °C, and blocks in one string must not differ by more than 0.05 V. Tighten isolated row connectors to 15 Nm plus or minus 1 Nm. Vertical or horizontal installation is allowed.
Commissioning charge uses a constant voltage of at most 2.4 V per cell with a current limit of 20 A per 100 Ah C10, about 24 hours in total; stop and let the surface cool if it passes 55 °C. In storage, recharge when open-circuit voltage falls to 12.45 V per block or the maximum storage time is reached.
Where this block is used in Gulf data centres and telecom shelters
The data sheet names data centre and telecommunication, plus other DC or AC industrial duty. General engineering note: Gulf battery rooms often run warmer than the usual 20 °C design point, so a series rated to 55 °C operation is a natural shortlist item for UPS rooms, telecom shelters and substations.
With no refilling and a flame-retardant case, blocks can sit in cabinets close to the load.
