Brand:

Yuasa NPL65-12I 12V 65Ah Long-Life AGM VRLA Battery

Description

Long-life 65 Ah block for standby and control power

The Yuasa NPL65-12I is a 12 V, 65 Ah (20-hour rate) valve-regulated AGM battery from the NPL series, which Yuasa describes as general purpose AGM VRLA batteries. Yuasa classifies it as EUROBAT Long life, 10 to 12 years, with a design life of up to 10 years at 20 °C. The 65 Ah size is a common choice for engine-room control supplies, switchgear tripping and closing supplies, alarm and telecom systems and small UPS strings.

The block has M6 female terminals, a standard ABS case rated UL94:HB and a maximum discharge current of 800 A for 1 second. Yuasa publishes a constant-power rating for the 10-minute rate to 9.6 V per block, which is useful when sizing for a fixed-power load such as an inverter.

Installation notes from the data sheet

The battery can be installed and operated at up to 90 degrees from upright, must not be suspended by its handles, and has a resealing low-pressure valve on each cell. Hydrogen released by VRLA batteries can form explosive mixtures in air, so it must not be installed in a sealed container. At end of life it must be recycled in line with local regulations.

For parallel strings, keep the same battery type, age and temperature across strings and fit equal-length cabling so that the strings share current evenly.

Selecting an NPL battery

Model Voltage Capacity (Yuasa page) Case
NPL24-12I 12 V 24 Ah NF (standard)
NPL38-12I 12 V 38 Ah NF (standard)
NPL65-12I (this page) 12 V 65 Ah NF (standard)
NPL78-12IFR 12 V 78 Ah FR (flame retardant)
NPL100-12FR 12 V 100 Ah FR (flame retardant)

Check the required backup time against the discharge tables for the actual load and end voltage, and confirm the available space. For a smaller published battery see Yuasa NP12-12 sealed lead acid battery.

About brand

Yuasa, a brand of Kyoto-based GS Yuasa Corporation with roots going back to 1918, is known for sealed lead-acid batteries used in standby power. Its NP series of valve-regulated batteries serves standby and cyclic duty in UPS units, alarm panels and control cabinets. Seven Star LLC lists the Yuasa NP12-12 and supplies Yuasa sealed lead-acid batteries to industrial and commercial facilities in Oman.

Yuasa NP batteries listed here

The Yuasa NP12-12 is a 12 V, 12 Ah sealed lead-acid battery of the absorbent glass mat type with Faston terminals. In NP designations the first number is the capacity in ampere-hours and the second is the nominal voltage, so NP7-12 would be a 7 Ah, 12 V block. Extra letters after the number mark a variant, such as FR for a flame-retardant case.

Ordering Yuasa batteries: what we need

Send the full type printed on the battery, including any suffix letters, and the quantity. Tell us the equipment it serves, such as a UPS model or a fire alarm panel, and the terminal type on the old battery. Measure length, width and height if the label is missing. For a UPS, state how many blocks are in the string, since they should be replaced together. We also quote Yuasa batteries for buyers elsewhere in the GCC.
