Brand: Paxton
Paxton 353-110 P50 Proximity Reader for Switch2 and Net2
Description
353-110 is the Paxton P50 proximity reader, a compact RFID reader less than 16 mm deep for Switch2 and Net2 door control units, with a stated token range of up to 80 mm and an IPX7 rating.
A mid-size reader for card and keyfob doors
The P series covers four readers: P38, P50, P75 and the P75 screw-connector version. The datasheet puts the P50 between the small P38 and the large P75 for read range, and the P50 is 50 mm wide and 100 mm high in the datasheet drawing. Paxton supplies the readers with black fascias and offers replacement black or white fascias.
Operation is simple: hold a token near the reader and the control unit looks up the user. By default all three LEDs are lit; a green flash means access granted and a red flash means denied, each with an audible tone. Paxton notes that the reader can read HID 125 kHz proximity tokens once licensed with an activation card.
Key features as printed in the datasheet
- Wired as shown on the control unit label; cable exits centrally from the back for accurate drilling.
- 5 m fitted cable, extendable up to 25 m with Belden 9538 or up to 100 m with Belden 9540.
- Hands-free compatible and Wiegand output up to 50 bits.
- Replacement coloured covers available.

P38, P50 or P75: choosing by range and space
Read ranges in the datasheet rise with size: for the P50 the datasheet lists 50 mm for a keyfob, 80 mm for a token or ISO card, 35 mm for a Watchprox and 1.1 m for hands-free tokens. If the mullion or door frame is narrow the P38 (333-110) is smaller, and the P75 (373-110) gives the longest range.
The P series does not include a keypad; for card plus PIN, Paxton lists the KP series readers separately. Confirm the code, fascia colour and token type before ordering.
Mounting guidance
Paxton warns in the datasheet and product page to avoid mounting the reader on metal surfaces or near other proximity readers because both reduce read range. Drilling templates and scale drawings for the P38, P50 and P75 are published for download.
The reader is wired to the control unit with colour-coded cable. Reader cable beyond 25 m should use the thicker Belden 9540 type, and the Net2 Plus or Switch2 reader-port current limit must be respected.
Typical doors
The P50 suits office doors, plant rooms, stores, workshops and apartment entrances in humid environments, as it carries IPX7 and a temperature range up to +66 °C. It is a standard reader for Switch2 stand-alone doors and for Net2 networked doors alike.
Selection and installation notes
Access control is designed door by door: the door type, the lock, the reader position, the exit method and the fire release all need to be settled before the equipment is chosen. Fit the unit on the secure side where the maker advises, run cable of the type and length the data sheet allows, test the lock release on power failure and fire alarm, and keep a record of the user and token set-up. Check local fire and security rules before commissioning.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
Related Paxton items
The product page suggests the Net2 Plus controller with 12 V 2 A power supply and Net2 proximity keyfobs. Exit button E50 (356-310) and the Switch2 controller (405-321) are Paxton items that fit the same doors. See also the category.
