Siglent SDM3055 5.5-Digit Dual-Display Bench Digital Multimeter

Description

SDM3055 is a Siglent 5.5-digit (240,000 counts) dual-display bench digital multimeter with a 4.3 inch colour screen, true-RMS AC, 200 mV to 1000 V DC and 200 µA to 10 A DC ranges, plus capacitance and thermocouple or RTD temperature measurement.

A precision bench multimeter for repair, calibration and production

Siglent lists research and development labs, repair and maintenance, calibration laboratories, automatic production test and general bench use as the fields for the SDM3055. It reads up to 150 readings per second, shows two parameters at once on the dual display, and offers histogram, trend chart, bar chart and statistics views for judging drift and noise on a signal.

A 1 Gb NAND flash stores configuration and data files, with USB flash drive support, and the built-in cold-junction compensation covers thermocouple temperature. A scanner version, SDM3055-SC, adds the SC1016 multiplexer card for multi-point measurement; the plain SDM3055 does not include that card.

SDM3055 or SDM3055-SC

The datasheet describes two models: SDM3055 and SDM3055-SC, which adds the SC1016 scanner card (12 multi-purpose channels plus 4 current channels, supporting DCV, ACV, DCI, ACI, 2- and 4-wire resistance, capacitance, frequency, diode, continuity and temperature). Standard accessories for the meter are a power cord, USB cable, quick start guide, calibration certificate and two sets of test leads with alligator clips. The USB-GPIB adapter is optional.

Measurement notes

Allow 30 minutes of warm-up and use the slow measurement rate for best accuracy. Perform the REF operation for 2-wire resistance and capacitance, otherwise an extra 0.2 Ω error applies to 2-wire resistance. For continuous current above 7 A (DC or AC RMS), the datasheet recommends 30 seconds on followed by 30 seconds off. Voltage and current accuracy statements do not include probe error for temperature measurements.

Uses in maintenance and test departments

Typical tasks include verifying power supply outputs, checking control-panel voltages, measuring 4 to 20 mA loops through the 20 mA and 200 mA ranges, comparing RTD or thermocouple readings against process instruments, and logging slow drifts with the trend chart. The CAT I 1000 V and CAT II 600 V rating allows use on equipment up to those categories only; it is not a substitute for a CAT III or CAT IV field meter on distribution boards.

Accessories

Siglent lists the USB-GPIB adapter and, for the SDM3055-SC, the SC1016 scanner card. Pair with the SPD3303X power supply for bench set-ups. See the Portable Test and Measurement category.

Selection and installation notes

Test and measurement instruments are selected from the accuracy, the range and the interfaces the work needs. Allow the warm-up time, use leads and probes rated for the voltage and category of the circuit, keep the inputs inside the stated limits and keep the calibration current according to your quality system. Record the settings used for any test that must be repeated later.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.

Documents and supply information
