Evident EPOCH 700 Conventional Ultrasonic Flaw Detector

Description

A touchscreen conventional flaw detector with 24-bit A-scan digitization

The Evident EPOCH 700 is a conventional ultrasonic flaw detector that Evident describes as an evolution of the EPOCH platform. It combines a 7 inch touchscreen with direct-access buttons and a dedicated adjustment knob, a PerfectSquare tunable square-wave pulser, more than twenty digital filter sets and 24-bit A-scan digitization that allows amplitude measurement up to 800 % of full screen height. It meets ISO 22232-1, has achieved EPRI PDI qualification for key nuclear inspection procedures according to the brochure, and is the first portable conventional UT instrument to fully support the open .nde file format.

Inspection workflow features

Part and Weld setup with integrated ray trace visualisation links A-scan data to the geometry, which helps avoid incorrect probe offset from the weld centreline, and a visual sizing method configurator previews the selected curve type. Onboard reporting removes the need for a PC, A-scan recording stores up to 30 seconds at 60 frames per second as .nde files, and wireless transfer sends reports directly from the instrument. Evident states that the mobile-style interface needs no retraining for EPOCH 650 users.

Standard package and selection

The standard package contains the instrument, charger and AC adapter, rechargeable lithium-ion battery, transport case, hand strap, USB memory stick with manuals, extra screen protector and safety leaflet. A spare battery and chest harness are listed as accessories. Choose BNC or LEMO connectors to match the probes in use, and confirm the ISO 22232-1 and any nuclear qualification requirements against your procedure. The brochure gives only basic specifications and refers to the full user manual for complete data. For a lower-cost conventional detector see the Evident EPOCH 650; other models are listed under Handheld Flaw Detectors, including the Waygate Krautkramer USM 100.

About brand

Evident makes nondestructive testing, remote visual inspection and material analysis instruments, building on more than a century of Olympus heritage. Its inspection business joined Wabtec Corporation in 2025, and the Evident name is planned to transition to Wabtec Inspection Technologies in 2027. Seven Star LLC supplies Evident ultrasonic thickness gauges, flaw detectors, eddy current instruments and XRF analyzers to inspection teams in Oman and the GCC on inquiry.

Evident ultrasonic and eddy current instruments

The range includes handheld ultrasonic thickness gauges such as the 39DL PLUS and 45MG, EPOCH conventional flaw detectors, NORTEC eddy current flaw detectors and OmniScan phased array systems, together with a broad line of transducers, probes and accessories. Gauges for corrosion mapping and wall thickness checks sit alongside weld inspection instruments, so one manufacturer can cover several inspection methods on a refinery shutdown or a pipeline project.

Material analysis and visual inspection

Evident also lists Vanta handheld XRF analyzers for alloy identification and positive material identification, and IPLEX video borescopes for remote visual inspection of pipes, vessels and machinery. Specifying the correct model depends on the material, the thickness range, the code or procedure and the site conditions, and we check the order code against the manufacturer's documentation before quoting.
