Brand:

Yuasa ENL100-12 12V 108Ah Front Terminal AGM VRLA Battery

Description

Front terminal 12 V block for long-life standby systems

The Yuasa ENL100-12 is a 12 V, 108 Ah (20-hour rate) valve-regulated AGM battery from the ENL series. It is a front terminal design, so the terminals and connections are reached from the front of the cabinet or rack, and the case is only 125 mm wide. The case is flame-retardant ABS rated UL94:V0, and Yuasa gives a design life of 15 years at 20 °C with a EUROBAT classification of Very long life, 12+ years.

Front terminal blocks of this kind are used in telecom, UPS and power plant battery cabinets, and as control and auxiliary supplies at generating stations and substations, where long life and a small footprint matter more than lowest first cost.

Installation and charging

The data sheet states that the battery can be operated at orientations up to 90 degrees from upright, that blocks must not be suspended by their handles and that each cell has a low-pressure release valve that reseals. VRLA batteries release hydrogen, which can form explosive mixtures in air, so the battery must not be placed inside a sealed container.

Charging should use the stated float and boost voltages with temperature compensation, and the 25 A current limit. When blocks are connected in series strings, fit a charger that matches the string voltage and the temperature compensation setting.

Selecting an ENL battery

Model Voltage Capacity (Yuasa page) Type
ENL100-12 (this page) 12 V 108 Ah Front terminal block
ENL100-6 6 V 108 Ah General purpose AGM VRLA
ENL160-6 6 V 172.8 Ah General purpose AGM VRLA
ENL320-2 2 V 345.6 Ah General purpose AGM VRLA
ENL480-2 2 V 518.4 Ah General purpose AGM VRLA

Choose by system voltage, required runtime and the load profile, and confirm the cabinet depth, because the 558 mm length drives the shelf layout. A similar published battery page is Yuasa NP12-12 sealed lead acid battery.

About brand

Yuasa, a brand of Kyoto-based GS Yuasa Corporation with roots going back to 1918, is known for sealed lead-acid batteries used in standby power. Its NP series of valve-regulated batteries serves standby and cyclic duty in UPS units, alarm panels and control cabinets. Seven Star LLC lists the Yuasa NP12-12 and supplies Yuasa sealed lead-acid batteries to industrial and commercial facilities in Oman.

Yuasa NP batteries listed here

The Yuasa NP12-12 is a 12 V, 12 Ah sealed lead-acid battery of the absorbent glass mat type with Faston terminals. In NP designations the first number is the capacity in ampere-hours and the second is the nominal voltage, so NP7-12 would be a 7 Ah, 12 V block. Extra letters after the number mark a variant, such as FR for a flame-retardant case.

Ordering Yuasa batteries: what we need

Send the full type printed on the battery, including any suffix letters, and the quantity. Tell us the equipment it serves, such as a UPS model or a fire alarm panel, and the terminal type on the old battery. Measure length, width and height if the label is missing. For a UPS, state how many blocks are in the string, since they should be replaced together. We also quote Yuasa batteries for buyers elsewhere in the GCC.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the capacity of the ENL100-12?
108 Ah at the 20-hour rate to 1.75 V per cell and 100 Ah at the 10-hour rate to 1.8 V per cell, both at 20 °C.
What does front terminal mean?
The terminals are on the front face of the block, so wiring and maintenance are done from the front of a cabinet or rack.
What is the design life?
Yuasa gives 15 years at 20 °C and a EUROBAT classification of Very long life, 12+ years.
What float voltage should be used?
13.56 V per 12 V block at 20 °C, with a temperature correction of -3 mV per cell per °C.
Can it be used in a sealed enclosure?
No. The data sheet warns that VRLA batteries release hydrogen and must not be placed in a sealed container.
