TSI VelociCalc 5725 Rotating Vane Anemometer 100 mm
Description
A 100 mm vane head for open grilles and large diffusers
The TSI VelociCalc 5725 is a rotating vane anemometer with a 100 mm (4 in.) vane head that screws onto a handle and connects to a logging display unit. Where a hot-wire probe is fragile and directional, a vane head averages the flow over a larger area, which suits grilles, diffusers and open duct ends in HVAC commissioning.
The meter reads velocity from 0.25 to 30 m/s and temperature, calculates volumetric flow from a duct area you enter, and logs up to 12,700+ samples. Browse supporting instruments under Portable Test & Measurement.
Key points from the manual
- Flow set-up for round duct, rectangular duct and direct duct area (0 to 500 ft2, or 0 to 46.45 m2).
- Cont-key logging with a 1 second interval for a sweep measurement across an area.
- Optional articulating extension to angle the head, and optional Air Cone kit for small outlets.
- Menus for display set-up, settings, flow set-up, data logging and calibration; USB download through LogDat2.

Vane or hot-wire probe?
Pick the 5725 for large, low-turbulence supply or return openings where an averaged reading across the 100 mm head is helpful, and the 9545 or 9565 with a thermoanemometer probe for small openings and low velocities. The 5725 starts at 0.25 m/s, with accuracy stated as 1 % of reading plus 4 ft/min.
Using the 5725 on site
Screw the handle into the bottom of the vane head until secure and remove it after use so the head is not damaged. The optional articulating extension lets you lock the head at nearly any angle: unscrew the swivel bolt, set the elbow, then tighten the knurled knob beneath the head.
For an air volume balance slide the vane head into the Air Cone for supply or extract measurements. Use Cont-key mode with a 1 second log interval to take a sweep, and set a longer time constant if the display fluctuates. TSI recommends annual factory recalibration.
Data are organised as samples (all parameters stored at the same moment) grouped into Test IDs, with average, minimum, maximum and count calculated per Test ID; up to 100 Test IDs can be kept. Clean the case with a soft cloth and isopropyl alcohol or mild detergent, never immerse it, replace a broken enclosure or AC adapter immediately, and remove the batteries if the unit is stored for more than a month.
Applications in commissioning and maintenance
Typical uses are air balancing of office and hotel supply grilles, airflow at kitchen extract hoods and ventilation checks in plant rooms. Operating electronics range is 5 to 45 C, so the instrument should not be left on a sunlit roof; the temperature reading is only specified up to 45 C and is not suited to hot exhaust air.
Accessories mentioned
The handle, optional articulating extension, Air Cone kit, AC adapter, USB cable, carrying case and LogDat2 software are the items named in the manual.
Selection and installation notes
Handheld air and environment meters are selected from the quantity measured, the range and the accuracy needed. Let the probe settle in the air stream, take readings at the points and the number the test method requires, keep the sensors clean, check the battery before a survey and keep the calibration current according to your quality system. Note the conditions and the probe position with every reading so the survey can be repeated.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
