Brand:

TSI VelociCalc 9545 Air Velocity Meter with Telescoping Probe

Description

A compact thermoanemometer for supply and return air checks

The TSI VelociCalc 9545 is a battery-powered air velocity meter built around a 40 in. (101.6 cm) telescoping probe that carries the velocity, temperature and humidity sensors together. It is the simple, probe-attached option in the VelociCalc range: no plug-in probes, no pressure ports, just velocity up to 30 m/s with temperature and humidity on the same screen.

It fits grille and diffuser readings, duct traverses with a known duct size, and spot checks on fume cupboards or ventilated enclosures. For the wider TSI and other instrument range see Portable Test & Measurement.

What the manual lists

  • Velocity, temperature, relative humidity and wet bulb temperature from one telescoping probe.
  • Flow set-up for round duct, rectangular duct, duct area and AM-series horns (AM 100, AM 300, AM 600, AM 1200).
  • Actual and standard condition conversion with entered or measured temperature and barometric pressure.
  • Logging modes Manual, Auto-save and Cont-key; 100 test IDs; LogDat2 download over USB.

Where the 9545 sits in the VelociCalc range

Choose the 9545 when air velocity with temperature and humidity is all you need and the probe can stay attached. It tops out at 30 m/s, below the 50 m/s of the plug-in-probe 9565, and has no pressure measurement. The 5725 rotating vane meter suits open grilles with a 100 mm vane head, and the 9565 suits work that needs pitot tubes or CO2 probes.

Setup and handling from the manual

Insert four AA cells; the AC adapter bypasses the batteries and does not recharge NiMH cells. Pull the probe tip, not the cable, to extend the probe, and keep the sensor window fully exposed with the orientation dimple facing upstream. At least 3 in. (7.5 cm) of the probe must sit in the flow for the temperature sensor to read the air stream.

Press both arrow keys together to lock the keypad during unattended logging. Remove batteries if the unit is stored for more than a month. The manual recommends annual recalibration at TSI and describes a field adjustment menu intended only for small changes; remove the probe from excessive temperature at once.

Use in Gulf building services work

Typical jobs are supply and extract grille surveys, laboratory hood face velocity checks and verification of ventilation in workshops. At 45 C maximum electronics temperature, keep the meter shaded when working in rooftop plant areas in summer, and let the probe equilibrate before reading temperature, which has a two-minute response.

Selection and installation notes

Handheld air and environment meters are selected from the quantity measured, the range and the accuracy needed. Let the probe settle in the air stream, take readings at the points and the number the test method requires, keep the sensors clean, check the battery before a survey and keep the calibration current according to your quality system. Note the conditions and the probe position with every reading so the survey can be repeated.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.

About brand

TSI Incorporated is a measurement instrument manufacturer based in Shoreview, Minnesota, with a catalogue built around airflow, aerosol and indoor air quality measurement. Its range includes ventilation test instruments, aerosol and dust monitors, particle counters, indoor air quality meters and flow instruments.

TSI instruments for air and particle measurement

Typical TSI families include VelociCalc air velocity and ventilation meters, DP-Calc micromanometers, AccuBalance capture hoods, Q-Trak and IAQ-Calc indoor air quality monitors, P-Trak ultrafine particle counters and DustTrak aerosol monitors. Operation and service manuals publish ranges, accuracies, logging capacity and operating limits so engineers can match an instrument to the job.

Uses in Oman and the GCC

These instruments are used for HVAC testing and balancing, cleanroom and laboratory ventilation checks, indoor air quality surveys and dust monitoring on construction, industrial and plant sites. Seven Star LLC supplies TSI instruments in Oman and the GCC and can confirm the exact model, probes and accessories against the official manual when you send an RFQ.
