Brand: Basler Electric
Basler Electric AVC63-4A Analog Voltage Regulator
Description
A compact 4-amp analog regulator for small generator terminal boxes
The Basler Electric AVC63-4A is a small, rugged analog voltage regulator with integrated circuitry. Its exciter field output is 4 A continuous and 6 A forcing, and the full-wave power stage gives improved transient performance and voltage stability. At 283 g and 139.5 x 124.4 x 50 mm it is small enough for installation in virtually any generator terminal box.
Basler states regulation accuracy better than plus or minus 1 percent from no-load to full-load, with a response time under 1.5 cycles for a 5 percent change in sensing voltage, and performance that stays constant over the operating temperature range without derating.
AVC63-4A features
- Regulation better than +/-1 percent, no-load to full-load
- Exciter field current 4 A continuous, 6 A forcing
- Frequency compensation and volts-per-hertz limiting
- Overexcitation shutdown when exciter field voltage exceeds 95 Vdc +/-5 percent
- Internal EMI suppression and automatic voltage buildup from residual voltage as low as 6 Vac
- Potted construction for harsh environments
- Simple adjustments to reduce settings errors

Matching the AVC63-4A to the exciter
The AVC63-4A suits exciter fields with a resistance of 15 to 100 ohm and a 4 A continuous demand. If the field needs more current, Basler lists the AVC63-7 and AVC63-12; the AVC63-4 and AVC63-4D are related variants. Confirm the sensing range (95 to 139 Vac or 190 to 277 Vac) and the single-phase power source voltage, since this model uses single-phase input and sensing only. Send the alternator model and the old regulator label if you are replacing a unit.
Installation notes
Wire the regulator following the connection diagram in the manual: power, sensing, exciter field, and the optional external adjustment potentiometer. The datasheet shows terminal markings including F+, F-, 3, 4, E3, V1, V2 and the Hz jumpers; short them as the notes direct for 50 Hz or 60 Hz operation, and fit the fuses with the required interrupting capacity. Frequency compensation curves and overexcitation delay curves are printed in the datasheet for setting up.
Where the AVC63-4A fits
It is a spare and replacement item for small and medium brushless generators with single-phase excitation power,. Its 60 C maximum operating temperature is lower than the 70 C of larger AVC models, so check the terminal-box temperature on hot sites.
Installation and selection notes
Because the regulator is small, it can fit in many terminal boxes, but check the wiring and the field current against the 4 A continuous rating. Use the supplied wiring diagram, adjust the voltage and stability settings with the generator running at no load and then at load, and record the final settings.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the site conditions and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, flows, dimensions and certifications are quoted as printed on that sheet.
