A gas gen-set controller built for CHP and grid-code compliance

The ComAp InteliSys Gas (order code IS2GASXXBAB) is described in its datasheet as an industrial-grade controller for power generation applications, with preconfigured functions, scalable and configurable I/O, broad communication capabilities and easily changed software. How the ComAp InteliSys Gas IS2GASXXBAB controller works

A genset controller measures the voltage and current of the generator and the mains or bus, and uses these values to start and stop the engine, synchronise the generator, share load and protect the set. The InteliSys Gas reads the electrical signals, and it connects to the engine through binary and analog inputs and outputs and through its communication ports. It controls power through the governor or the ECU, adjusts voltage and power factor, and runs the different modes such as baseload, import and export, TempByPower and peak shaving. A built-in PLC interpreter lets the integrator add custom logic without extra hardware.

Configure the engine type, protections and set points in the configuration software, and test each protection by simulation before running the engine. Check the synchronisation and power control step by step, and record the final configuration. Keep the firmware version and the configuration file with the project documents.

Protections and grid code functions
