Flowmeters
Ultrasonic Flowmeters
Ultrasonic flowmeters measure flow from the transit time of sound pulses across the pipe, with no moving parts and, in clamp-on form, no pipe cutting. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat and the authorized pFlow distributor, also supplies ultrasonic flowmeters from Panametrics, KROHNE, Rosemount, Katronic, Dynasonics, Micronics, Tokyo Keiso and JUMO to customers in Oman and the GCC.

Types of ultrasonic flowmeter in this category
Clamp-on meters such as the pFlow F3CL and D116, KROHNE OPTISONIC 6300 and Micronics UF3300 measure water, chilled water and process liquids from outside the pipe. Inline and insertion meters like the pFlow F5 and D348D serve permanent installations, and portable meters such as the Panametrics PT900 and Fuji Electric FSC are used for surveys and checks. Gas ultrasonic meters including the Panametrics XGM868i and Rosemount 3415, 3416 and 3417 measure natural gas and flare gas, and multi-path liquid meters like the Rosemount 3814 serve custody transfer.
How to select a ultrasonic flowmeter
Define pipe size, material, wall thickness and lining, the fluid and its temperature, and the flow range. Choose clamp-on for retrofit and non-invasive needs, inline for best accuracy, and multi-path meters for custody transfer. Check straight run available, outputs (4-20 mA, pulse, Modbus, HART) and hazardous area requirements.
Data needed for a quotation
Send the model, or pipe size and material, fluid, temperature, flow range, outputs, power supply and quantity.
What to include in your inquiry
These details let us quote the right item the first time.
- Fluid and its state (liquid, gas or steam)
- Line size and pipe material
- Flow range: minimum, normal and maximum
- Operating pressure and temperature
- Output or protocol (4-20 mA, HART, pulse, Modbus)
- Hazardous-area classification, if any
Missing some of them? Send what you have. A nameplate photo or an old part number is enough to start.

Frequently Asked Questions
Typically around 1 to 2% of reading with good installation and straight run. Inline and multi-path meters achieve better accuracy.
Yes. Dedicated gas meters such as the Panametrics XGM868i and Rosemount 3415 series measure natural gas and flare gas.
The meter compares the time sound takes to travel with and against the flow. The difference is proportional to flow velocity.
No. Transducers mount on the outside of the pipe, so installation does not stop the process.
