HOPPECKE sun | power VR M 12-150 Cyclic AGM Battery 12 V 133 Ah
Description
sun | power VR M 12-150 is a 12 V maintenance-free AGM monobloc of the HOPPECKE sun | power VR M series for cyclic solar and off-grid duty. The brochure gives 133 Ah at C10, 146 Ah at C100, a case of 498 x 177 x 230 mm and a weight of 55.0 kg with F-M8 terminals.
A cyclic AGM monobloc for solar storage and signalling
The sun series is meant for batteries that are charged and discharged every day, unlike standby grid products. HOPPECKE gives the VR M a maintenance-free Absorbent Glass Mat construction, an improved electrode design for efficient charge acceptance and integrated backfire protection. System connectors raise short-circuit safety during installation.
The 12-150 is the longest 12 V block in the series at 498 mm and carries no handle (layout A). The brochure names solar home storage, street lighting, medical care facilities, signalling systems and leisure applications. Because charging differs from standby use, the manual gives the sun series its own parameter data sheet.
Benefits listed in the brochure
- Maintenance-free monobloc thanks to Absorbent Glass Mat technology.
- Optimised cycle stability from an improved electrode design for efficient charge current acceptance.
- Operational safety from integrated backfire protection.
- Standards printed: IEC 60896-21 and IEC 61427; closed-loop recycling noted.

Derived values (calculated here)
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|

| Mass per ampere-hour at C10 | about 0.41 kg per Ah (55 kg / 133 Ah) |
Choosing within the VR M range
The brochure lists 12 V blocks 12-58 (48 Ah at C10, 19.0 kg), 12-70, 12-80, 12-90, 12-105, 12-135 and 12-150, 6 V blocks 6-200 and 6-250, and a 2 V cell 2-430 (411 Ah). Layouts A to G in the table show the handle and terminal arrangement of each type.
Cyclic duty is sized by depth of discharge and cycles per day, so use the brochure cycle chart and your own load profile, and confirm exact code and terminal layout before ordering.
Charging parameters for solar use from the manual
Table 11-1 of the manual sets the sun | power VR M profile: IU charge with maximum current of 6 x I10, absorption at 2.4 V per cell for 180 minutes, a full charge every 14 days, and float at 2.25 V per cell plus or minus 1 percent with temperature compensation of 3 mV per kelvin (minus above 20 °C, plus below). An equalizing charge follows every 10 x Cn of throughput or every 40 days.
Measure open-circuit voltage of cells before connecting and keep the spread below 0.02 V. For horizontal racks the manual recommends the pancake orientation, with plates flat, which counters acid stratification.
Solar, telecom and remote-site batteries
General engineering note: in the Gulf, off-grid pumping, signalling and street lighting sites face high temperature, which shortens lead-acid life, so battery temperature and charge compensation should be checked at design stage. The brochure itself lists street lighting, signalling and solar home storage.
