Task Force Tips Hurricane XFI-FPNJ 1250 GPM Fixed Monitor

Description

The Task Force Tips Hurricane XFI-FPNJ is a manual fixed monitor for permanent masterstream protection, rated for up to 1250 gpm (4500 L/min) at a maximum operating pressure of 200 psi (14 bar). It is the industrial-style Hurricane in red powder coat with a tiller bar for horizontal aiming and a 6 in handwheel for elevation, a 4 in (100 mm) ANSI 150 / DN100 PN16 inlet on a 4.5 in (115 mm) riser flange, and a 2.5 in NH male rigid outlet.

The Hurricane is cast from hardcoat-anodized aluminum with powder coat inside and out, which the manual says gives excellent corrosion resistance in harsh environments, and it carries a stainless-steel elevation drive. The product page lists FM as the certification for this code.

FM Approvals statement and what it covers

The FM Approvals certificate attached to this product on the manufacturer site, Class 1421 Fire Protection Monitor Assemblies, covers Hurricane, Hurricane Extended, Monsoon and Typhoon monitor assemblies. A second FM report describes the Hurricane monitor assembly rated to 1250 gpm (4500 L/min) and 200 psi of aluminum construction. It states that the monitor was proof-tested hydrostatically to 500 psi (27.6 bar), more than twice the rated operating pressure, then to 1000 psi (55.2 bar) for five minutes without rupture. Verify the current approval status in the FM Approval Guide, because it is subject to follow-up audits.

Selection and ordering guide

The XFI series is the manual fixed Hurricane; the XFIH series is the electric remote-control version with 450 degrees of rotation, 12 or 24 VDC auto-sense drives and a factory control panel. Within the manual models the model number encodes the inlet and the exit thread: the manual lists inlet options of 3 in ANSI 150, 4 in ANSI 150, DN80 PN16, DN100 PN16, 3 in or 4 in NPT female, 3 in or 4 in BSP male and Extend-A-Gun RC3 or RC4 connections, with 2.5 in NH or 2.5 in BSP male outlets. XFI-FPNJ is the 4 in flange, NH-outlet, tiller-bar configuration; choose a different suffix if your nozzle or pipe uses a different thread.

Installation and operation notes

Mount the monitor on rigid supports able to carry the nozzle reaction, using a flat flange and ring gasket, and tighten the eight 5/8 in bolts in a star sequence in three passes to 76 to 80 ft-lb (100 to 110 N-m). Grease zerks on the inlet and horizontal swivel allow lubrication without disassembly, and the manual includes service tests and an exploded view. A lever-action lock holds the horizontal position. Use with salt water is permitted if flushed with fresh water afterwards.

Applications in GCC industry

A 1250 gpm fixed monitor with 360 degree rotation is a common choice for jetty heads, tank farm dikes, loading racks, and process unit deluge positions that must be aimed by hand. The powder-coated aluminum body is suited to coastal humidity, and the red finish matches typical fire-protection color schemes. Plan for the NH outlet: this is a US hose thread, so BS or Storz nozzles require an adapter or an alternative exit code.

Installation and selection notes

A fixed monitor must be supported by pipework and a base that can carry the reaction force of the stream at the rated flow and pressure. Confirm the flange standard and the supply pipe size, install it where the operator can reach the handwheel and tiller bar, and test it at the planned flow during commissioning. Flush after use with salt or contaminated water.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any hoses, couplings or accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, flows, pressures and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
