Description
The Posi Lock AT-1108 is a Side Align tool set for the horizontal movement of motors, pumps and gearboxes during shaft alignment. It replaces jack bolts, frames and heavy hammers with a bolt-on actuator that moves a machine foot sideways in small, controlled increments.
Precision sideways movement for machine alignment
Measuring a misalignment is only half the job; the machine still has to be moved by the right amount. The Side Align principle fits a tool and an eccentric socket over a hold-down bolt head, tightens a knurled nut until the foot edge contacts the allen screw, and then rotates the eccentric socket by half a turn or as far as the desired position needs.
The maker says the tool lets you make horizontal adjustments within 0.001 inch or closer, and that it supports precise coupling end-gap adjustment as well.

Matching tool and socket sizes to the machine
The chart ties each alignment tool to the eccentric sockets it needs and to the motor frame range it serves. The five tools cover bolt-head sizes from 13/16 inch up to 6 1/8 inches, and the eight sockets fit studs from 3/8 inch to 1 1/4 inch holes. Smaller machines in the 2 to 30 HP range use the ATN-1 and ATN-2; larger machines, including frames in the 400M to 8211S range, need the ATN-5 with ES-7 or ES-8.
Because the set includes two of every tool and socket, a crew can fit both feet on one side of a machine at the same time and move them together. Always read the manufacturer’s instructions before use, loosen the securing bolts about one turn first and repeat the fit, tighten and rotate steps until the alignment is achieved.
Where it is used
Typical jobs are pump and motor sets on skids, gearbox-to-motor couplings, fans and compressors, anywhere a laser or dial-indicator alignment calls for a small sideways correction and there is little room around the foot. Posi Lock Puller is an American maker of gear and bearing pullers, based in Cooperstown, North Dakota. Its founder Dean Somerville, who ran a machinery repair shop and farm in McHenry, North Dakota, designed a self-aligning puller with a Safety Cage around the jaws in 1974, and the caged puller was patented in 1977. The company has been in operation since 1978 and is led by Tamara Somerville.

Posi Lock product series
