Swan AMI Turbitrace Low-Level Turbidity Analyzer for Pure and Ultra-Pure Water

Description

High-precision nephelometer for low-level turbidity

The Swan AMI Turbitrace is used for the measurement of low-level turbidity in pure and ultra-pure water. The manual describes a high-precision nephelometer complying with ISO 7027 (EN 27027, DIN 38404), and the swan.ch page lists semiconductor use. It is a closed, pressure-tight sample system, which the product page says avoids outgassing of the sample.

Turbidity expresses how much of the light traveling through water is scattered by suspended particles. In the Turbitrace the beam from an emitter LED passes through the sample and is received by a transmitted-light sensor, while a scattered-light sensor at a 90 degree angle detects light scattered by particles. The ratio between the scattered signal and the reference receiver is the measure of turbidity.

Sample path, zero point and cleaning

The sample enters through a solenoid valve and a manual five-way valve into the measuring chamber, then leaves through a pressure regulator that sets the sample flow. It then passes a capillary and a flow meter into the drain funnel. The system includes a zero point filter, a calibration or grab sample port and a humidity absorber. A drain valve lets the user empty the chamber and keep it free of deposits.

The product page lists programmable automatic zero point measurement for drift compensation, a fast response of T90 under 15 seconds at 10 l/h, and a valve and connector for calibration according to ISO 7027.

Pressure limit and installation checks

The measuring chamber is under the pressure of the sample line. The manual warns that if the inlet pressure is too high, moisture can enter the housing of the measuring electronics and cause incorrect measurements and failure. The maximum inlet pressure of 10 bar must never be exceeded, even briefly, so protect the instrument from pressure surges in the sample line.

Confirm the sample pressure range, flow and temperature, the supply type, communication option and whether the zero point verification kit is needed. Swan lists AMI Turbiwell and AMI Turbitrack turbidity analyzers as separate products for other duties, so use the Turbitrace where low-level turbidity in pure or ultra-pure water is the requirement.

About brand

Swan Analytical Instruments (SWAN Analytische Instrumente AG) is a Swiss manufacturer of online water analysers, founded on 1 January 1991 in Hinwil by a group of engineers, chemists and physicists. It started with swimming pool and sanitary water, then grew quickly in water-steam cycle monitoring for power plants and ultrapure water for semiconductors. Swan is 100 % employee-owned.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list selected Swan AMI analyzers for power, desalination and water plants in Oman and the GCC.
