Brand:

Cortem NAVB Ex Barrier Cable Glands for Non-Armoured Cable

Description

Barrier cable glands for non-armoured cable, 3/8 inch to 4 inch

The Cortem NAVB series are barrier cable glands for non-armoured cable that provide IP66/67 protection and the explosion protection Ex db IIC and Ex eb IIC where installation under EN IEC 60079-14 requires a sealed barrier. A liquid two-component resin flows around the conductors in a special bushing and fills the space completely. Cortem states that the liquid resin prevents the air pockets and voids that malleable resins can leave between the conductors and the bushing. The resin kit is ordered separately.

Glands are offered from 3/8 inch NPT to 4 inch NPT, and in ISO metric threads from M16x1.5 to M115x1.5, in nickel-plated brass. AISI 316 stainless steel (example code NAVB1S) and the ISO 7-1 thread version are available on request, and a blue RAL 5015 nut marks the Ex i intrinsic safety version.

Pairs of NPT and ISO metric codes are shown with the maximum cable diameter and the maximum diameter over cores in millimetres, as printed. Weight is in kilograms and resin is the maximum quantity in millilitres for a fully empty bushing; at least 20 percent of the bushing internal section must be filled with resin.

Resin kits, accessories and what to confirm

Order the resin kit with the gland: BOND-B-25 (25 ml bag), BOND-B-100 (100 ml bag) or BOND-C (40 ml cartridge with mixing nozzle), with an optional manual dispenser DISP-C. Locknuts (DL series), earthing rings (A series), reducers, lock washers, PGA protectors and heat-shrink GTR7 sleeves are listed as accessories. Confirm the thread type (NPT, ISO metric or ISO 7-1), the cable diameter and the diameter over cores, the zone and category, the material, and the amount of resin needed. For armoured cable Cortem lists the equivalent NEVB series.
