Debem Equaflux 100 Pulsation Damper for AODD Pumps

Description

A self-regulating pulsation damper for air-operated diaphragm pumps

The Equaflux 100 is a pneumatic pulsation damper that smooths the stop-start flow of an AODD pump and reduces water-hammer and vibration on the discharge line. A pulsation in the product moves the damper diaphragm, which in turn operates the damper's own air valve, so head, frequency and capacity are adjusted automatically without any set-up. The datasheet lists it for the Debem Boxer 50, Boxer 81, Boxer 90, Miniboxer and FPC 100 pumps.

Sizing, fitting and code

Match the damper to the pump size: the Equaflux 100 is listed for the Boxer 50, 81 and 90 class, while Debem lists the Equaflux 51 for the Cubic 15 and the Equaflux 200 for the Boxer 100; the series also includes the 302 and 303. The manual code reads EQ100 followed by the body material (P polypropylene, F PVDF, R PPS-V, A AISI 316, AL aluminium), the air-side diaphragm material, the fluid-side diaphragm (for example H Hytrel or T PTFE) and a C suffix for CONDUCT version. Install the damper as close to the pump discharge as possible, with an on-off valve on each product side and an on-off, three-way or check valve on the air line so that fluid cannot enter the air circuit if a diaphragm fails.

Operating limits

A product chamber sized for the pump type absorbs the changes in head and delivery, and the damper adjusts itself to the circuit without intervention. Do not use the damper with chemically incompatible fluids or with suspended solids heavier than the liquid, such as water with sand. The exhaust port should be piped to a safe area when aggressive or toxic liquids are pumped, and the user must provide spill containment. Quote the pump model, fluid, temperature and material code together so the damper diaphragm and cap materials can be matched, and ask for the clamp version if the line uses hygienic connections.

Documents and quotation

The one-page technical sheet carries the table of materials, weights and applicable pumps. To request a quotation, state the pump model, fluid and air supply. Related pump equipment is listed in the catalogue, and the VERDERAIR VA50 is another AODD pump that often needs a damper.

About brand

Debem is an Italian industrial pump manufacturer based in Busto Arsizio, near Varese, founded in 1982 by Marco De Bernardi. The company builds air-operated double diaphragm pumps, drum transfer pumps, chemical centrifugal pumps and pulsation dampeners, mainly in polypropylene, PVDF, aluminium and AISI 316 L for aggressive and difficult fluids.

Debem pump families

The Boxer, Cubic and FoodBoxer ranges cover air-operated diaphragm pumps from compact sizes to 600 l/min, with ATEX and IECEx versions listed for explosive atmospheres. The TR series drum pumps use electric or pneumatic motors, while the MB, IM, DM and KM series are horizontal, vertical and magnetic-drive centrifugal pumps for chemical duties. Equaflux pulsation dampeners and pump accessories complete the programme.

Requesting a Debem quotation

Send the fluid, temperature, viscosity, solids content, flow and head, the power supply or compressed air available and any hazardous-zone requirement. The technical sheets and manuals give the material codes and options, so the exact pump configuration can be confirmed before an offer is issued.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pumps is the Equaflux 100 listed for?
The technical sheet lists the Boxer 50, Boxer 81, Boxer 90, Miniboxer and FPC 100, depending on damper material.
How is the damper controlled?
It is self-regulating: product pulsation moves the damper diaphragm, which operates the damper air valve, so no manual set-up is needed.
What air pressure applies?
The technical sheet gives 2 to 8 bar while the manual warns the air supply must never exceed 7 bar, so keep within the lower limit and confirm with the manufacturer.
What materials are available?
Polypropylene, PVDF, PPS and PTFE plastic versions plus AISI 316 and an FDA clamp version, with NBR, EPDM, Hytrel, Santoprene or PTFE diaphragms.
What valves must be fitted?
The manual requires on-off valves on the product intake and delivery and on-off, three-way or check valves on the air supply line.
