Brand: Hach
Hach DR6000 UV-VIS Spectrophotometer with RFID
Description
A UV-VIS laboratory spectrophotometer for comprehensive water analysis
The DR6000 is Hach’s UV-VIS laboratory spectrophotometer, described by Hach in its datasheet as the industry’s most advanced lab spectrophotometer. It combines UV and visible spectrum capability, over 250 preprogrammed methods, guided procedures and integrated quality-assurance software, and targets beverage, drinking water, industrial water, pharmaceutical, power and wastewater laboratories.
A tungsten lamp covers the visible range and a deuterium lamp the UV range, giving a wavelength range of 190 to 1100 nm with 0.1 nm resolution and high-speed scanning at 900 nm per minute in 1 nm steps. Used with TNTplus reagent vials, the instrument averages ten readings and eliminates outliers, and RFID technology updates program calibration factors automatically when a TNTplus box is placed near it.

Throughput, accessories and quality assurance
A carousel sample changer allows up to seven sequential measurements, and the Sipper Module, an instrument-controlled sample delivery system, increases precision by keeping the optical characteristics constant. The instrument identifies chemistry expiration dates from the barcode on TNTplus vials and detects chemistry coefficient factors to avoid errors from lot-to-lot variations.
The integrated QA software schedules, documents and interprets quality measurements, which helps laboratories that must demonstrate control over their analytical process. The available-tests table in the datasheet lists the ranges for the supported parameters.
Where the DR6000 fits, and what to confirm
Select the DR6000 when UV measurements are required, such as spectral scans and method development, or when the laboratory wants the largest method library and the 200 user program slots. For visible-range routine testing, Hach also lists the DR3900; for field use, the DR1900.
Before ordering, confirm the methods and sample cells required, whether the carousel or Sipper accessories are needed, the mains supply and the bench space for a unit that weighs 11 kg. Hach notes that RFID technology is currently available only in the countries printed in the datasheet, and that specifications are subject to change without notice.
How the Hach DR6000 works
A spectrophotometer measures how much light a sample absorbs at a chosen wavelength. The DR6000 sends light from a tungsten lamp for the visible range and a deuterium lamp for the UV range through the sample cell. A detector measures the light that comes through, and the instrument turns the result into absorbance, transmittance or concentration. With reagent vials, the DR6000 reads the code on the vial by RFID and chooses the right program and calibration factors by itself.
Where the Hach DR6000 is used
- Drinking water and wastewater laboratories
- Industrial and boiler water testing
- Power plant chemistry
- Beverage and food quality labs
- Pharmaceutical and process laboratories
Selection checklist for the Hach DR6000
- Wavelength range of 190 to 1100 nm
- Parameters to be tested and the methods needed
- Cell sizes: rectangular, round or 100 mm cells
- Reagent vials and the RFID programs
- Sample changer or Sipper Module
- Data storage and connection to a PC or network
- Bench space of 215 x 500 x 460 mm
- Room temperature of 10 to 40 degrees C
Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes
Place the instrument on a stable bench away from vibration, direct sun and heat. Allow the lamps to warm up as the manual says. Run the self-check and a zero reading with a blank before the samples. Keep the cell windows clean and free of fingerprints, close the lid for each reading, and use fresh reagents. Check the instrument with standard solutions at planned intervals and log the results.
Requesting a quotation for the Hach DR6000
Please send the tests wanted, the sample type and the accessories needed. Seven Star LLC serves industrial customers in Oman and the GCC and replies with a quotation based on the information provided.
DR6000 wavelength performance
The wavelength accuracy is within 1 nm, the resolution is 0.1 nm and the spectral bandwidth is 2 nm. Scanning runs at 900 nm per minute.
DR6000 photometric range
The photometric range is plus or minus 3 absorbance units, with linearity from 0.005 to 2 absorbance.
DR6000 display and data
A 7 inch colour touchscreen shows the guided steps. The logger keeps 5000 data points with the result, the date, the time and the sample and user IDs.
DR6000 interfaces
The instrument has two USB type A ports, one USB type B port, Ethernet and an RFID module.
Laboratory records for DR6000
Keep the calibration checks, the reagent lot numbers and the lamp hours with the laboratory quality file.
Choosing the right DR6000 accessories
A carousel sample changer allows up to seven readings in sequence, which saves time on batches. The Sipper Module draws samples through the cell under instrument control, which helps with repeated tests of the same sample type.
Choosing the right cell for the DR6000
Use the 10 mm rectangular cell for most routine tests, longer cells for low concentrations, and round cells for reagent vials. Match the cell to the method and keep a spare set.
Documents and quotation
The DR6000 datasheet is attached. Related instruments are in Liquid Analytical Systems, and the Hach LBOD101 dissolved oxygen sensor is an example of Hach laboratory instrumentation already listed. Send the model number and accessory list through the RFQ form.

About brand
Water quality testing is the single subject Hach has worked on since 1947, from the reagent pillow in a field kit to online analyzers in a treatment plant. The company is based in Loveland, Colorado. Seven Star LLC lists Hach online analyzers, controllers, sensors, portable meters and reagents, and sources them for water, wastewater, power and process plants in Oman.
Hach analyzers, sensors and reagents listed
The Hach products on this page fall into four main groups, plus a few accessories such as a colorimeter, a reagent dispenser, a power supply and a flow control valve:
- Online analyzers: CL17sc colorimetric chlorine analyzer, TU5300sc and TU5400sc laser turbidimeters, BioTector B3500ul TOC analyzer, Polymetron 9245 sodium analyzer and Orbisphere 510 dissolved gas analyzer
- Controllers and digital sensors: SC4500 controller and the LDO 2 luminescent dissolved oxygen sensor
- Portable and laboratory instruments: 2100Q turbidimeter, HQ4200 multi-parameter meter and IntelliCAL probes such as the LBOD101
- Reagents: DPD free chlorine powder pillows and DEHA reagents for oxygen scavenger testing
Polymetron and Orbisphere analyzers are aimed at power plant water-steam cycles and similar pure water duties, where sodium, dissolved oxygen and other gases are measured at low levels.
Where Hach instruments are used
Hach instruments appear in drinking water plants, desalination, sewage treatment, cooling and boiler water circuits, and industrial effluent monitoring across the GCC. Operators use the portable meters and reagents for spot checks, and the sc analyzers and probes for continuous signals to the control system.
Ordering Hach products: what we need
Hach identifies every item by a catalog number, for example LXV416.99.20001 for a sensor or 21055-69 for a reagent pack, and the same reagent may be written with or without the dash. Send that number and the quantity. For analyzers and controllers, add the parameter and range, sample conditions, power supply, outputs and communication option. For sensors, tell us the controller model they will connect to and the cable length. For reagents, name the instrument and method so pack size and range can be confirmed against Hach documentation.
