Streamlight Dualie 3AA Color-Rite ATEX Zone 0 Flashlight
Description
A Zone 0 flashlight whose flood beam shows true colours
The Streamlight Dualie 3AA Color-Rite ATEX keeps the dual-beam layout of the Dualie family but swaps the flood LED for a 90 CRI source. A high colour rendering index lets the eye tell similar colours apart, which matters when reading colour-coded wiring, identifying corrosion or leak staining, matching paint and tags, or checking indicator lamps.
The spot beam uses a cool-white LED for distance, 225 lumens and 8,000 candela to 179 m, while the flood gives 175 lumens and 380 candela to 39 m. With both on the light delivers 320 lumens, 7,000 candela and 167 m. Switching is by two opposing head buttons, and the body is the same anti-static polymer in safety orange.

Why colour rendering matters in the field
A CRI of 90 means the flood beam renders colours close to daylight. On a typical cool-white LED, similar wire colours or the brown of rust against orange of a paint marking can look alike. For electrical technicians, maintenance planners and inspectors this reduces misreads that otherwise need a second look under a work light.
The certificate is shared with the other Dualie 3AA models. The fact sheet ties T4 to Energizer L91, Duracell MN1500 and Rayovac NO.815, and T3 to Energizer E91 and the Panasonic LR6XP and LR6XWA. The North American Class I Division 1 version is listed in high-visibility yellow on the fact sheet and is a different model.
Choosing the Color-Rite over the standard Dualie
The Color-Rite is brighter than the standard Dualie 3AA (320 lumens combined against 245), but its run time is shorter, 8 hours on spot against 18, so it suits shorter inspection tasks and shift-based issue with fresh cells. The standard Dualie has the longer run time and the Laser model adds a pointer.
A helmet mount is the one optional accessory the fact sheet lists, with mounting kits itemised on the information sheet.
The instructions allow cleaning with a damp cloth and mild detergent, without solvents and not inside a hazardous area. The housing and o-rings should be inspected periodically to keep the enclosure sealed, and the flashlight withdrawn from service if any part of the enclosure is missing or broken. On ATEX models a supplied wrench loosens the face-cap locking screw before the cap is unscrewed, a step to be carried out in a known non-hazardous area.
Issuing the light for hazardous-area work
Before a Dualie Color-Rite is handed to a technician for work in a classified area, check that the marking on the body matches the zone, gas group and temperature class of the site, and that the batteries fitted are a brand and type permitted for that temperature class. Keep a short list of approved cells at the tool store so that replacements are not bought on the basis of price or availability alone. Battery changes and opening of the face cap belong in a known safe area, never at the work location.
Treat the flashlight as certified equipment rather than a consumable. Give each unit an identification number, record who it is issued to, and include it in the same inspection regime as other portable Ex equipment. A light that has been dropped heavily, shows cracks in the housing or has a damaged o-ring should be removed from hazardous-area service until it has been checked.
Using the 90 CRI flood beam effectively
The colour-true flood is most useful at short range, where the inspector is looking closely at a surface or component. Use it for reading cable cores, checking the colour of process fluid on a drip tray, assessing coating breakdown and spotting discolouration around flanges and fittings. Switch to the spot beam to locate the item from a distance, then change to the flood for the close inspection, which also helps to stretch the available run time.
For photographs that will go into an inspection report, the flood beam gives a more natural colour than a cool-white light. Hold the light at an angle to the surface to reduce glare from wet or glossy finishes.
Care in Oman and Gulf site conditions
On refineries, gas plants, tank farms and marine terminals in Oman and the GCC, portable lights are exposed to fine dust, salt-laden air, high daytime heat and occasional washdown. After use in dusty or coastal conditions, wipe the body and lens with a damp cloth outside the hazardous area, as the instructions describe, and check that no grit has collected around the face cap threads or seals.
Do not leave the flashlight on vehicle dashboards or in direct sun inside closed cabins, where temperatures can exceed what batteries tolerate comfortably. Store spare cells in a cool, dry place and rotate stock so that older cells are used first. Remove batteries from lights that will be stored for long periods to reduce the risk of leakage.
Routine checks before each shift
A quick pre-use check takes less than a minute: confirm both beams switch on from the head buttons, look for cracks or missing parts on the housing, verify the face cap is fully closed and locked, and make sure the lens is clean. Withdraw any light that fails a check and report it so that it can be inspected or replaced.

Streamlight product series
ATEX and IECEx rated flashlights include the 2AA and 2AAA ProPolymer HAZ-LO for zone 0, the Dualie 3AA family with dual beam, laser and Color-Rite versions and the rechargeable Dualie, the Survivor, Survivor X and Survivor Pivot right-angle lights, and the Stylus and Stylus Reach penlights for zone 1. Headlamps include the 3AA HAZ-LO and Enduro Pro HAZ-LO.
Lanterns and area lights include the Vulcan 180 HAZ-LO rechargeable lantern for zone 0, the Vulcan LED for zone 2, the E-Flood LiteBox, the Super Siege lantern and the Syclone magnetic work light for unclassified areas.
Where Streamlight lights are used
Inspection and maintenance in refineries, gas plants, tank farms and offshore facilities, confined space entry, emergency response and general plant work. Marking, zone, gas group and temperature class differ by model and by the battery fitted, so the certificate and product label must match the area classification.
Ordering Streamlight lights: what we need
Send the five-digit item number with the charger voltage or plug type, colour and quantity. For hazardous-area lights state the zone, gas group and temperature class required, because item numbers vary by certification, voltage and package.
