GCE X11 Original 0767535 Torch Shank

Description

Handle shank for the X11 Original cutting and welding system

The GCE X11 Original shank, art. no. 0767535, is the torch handle of GCE’s X11 Original system. The shank takes G 1/4 in on the oxygen side and G 3/8 in left-hand thread on the fuel gas side, and it is the basis for the cutting attachments, welding heads, heating attachments and soldering heads of the range.

GCE describes the X11 Original as a complete system for cutting, welding, heating and soldering for light-duty applications. Attachments swap quickly with the quick connection nut, and the teflon washers that seal each attachment are easily replaced.

Cutting nozzles used with the system

The brochure lists the following nozzle families for the X11 Original cutting attachments. Pressures and flow rates for each size are given in the brochure.

Nozzle Gas and type Thickness range
HA 411 Acetylene, flat-seat injector nozzle 1 – 100 mm (5 sizes)
HP 433 Propane / natural gas, flat-seat injector nozzle 1 – 50 mm
ANME Acetylene, 3-cone nozzle mix 3 – 150 mm
PNME Propane, 3-cone nozzle mix 3 – 150 mm

Choosing connections and attachments

The brochure also lists a 0767537 shank with G 1/4 in on both sides (left-hand on the fuel gas side), so check the thread on your hoses and regulators before ordering. Hose connections in the BV 12 range, with or without nut, are available for 6.3, 8 and 10 mm hose. The welding heads are chrome-plated copper and swaged, with spanner grips for tip changes, and the nozzle choice should match the fuel gas and the thickness to be cut. A related cutting torch is the GCE X511 Original cutting torch.

How an oxy-fuel torch shank works

The shank is the handle of an oxy-fuel torch system. Oxygen and fuel gas arrive through separate hoses from the cylinder regulators and enter the shank at its two connections. Inside, separate gas passages lead to the front of the shank, where each attachment is fitted. Valves on the shank let the operator set and shut off the gas flow. The attachment, whether a welding head, cutting attachment or heating nozzle, mixes the gases and forms the flame. Using one shank with several attachments means that a single hose set and handle covers cutting, welding, heating and soldering jobs.

The fuel gas connection has a left-hand thread, which is the common convention for fuel gas fittings. It prevents the oxygen and fuel hoses from being swapped by mistake.

Jobs the X11 Original system covers

  • Cutting of steel plate and sections in workshops and on site.
  • Gas welding of thin steel and pipe.
  • Heating for bending, straightening and preheating.
  • Soldering and brazing work with the matching heads.

Safe set-up and operation

Oxy-fuel equipment must always be set up with care because both gases are under pressure and the fuel is flammable. Use regulators and hoses that are rated for the gas in use, and fit flashback arrestors as required by local rules. Check every connection for leaks with a suitable leak detection fluid before lighting the torch, and purge the hoses briefly before ignition.

  • Inspect the teflon washers on each attachment and replace them when worn or damaged.
  • Tighten the quick connection nut by hand to secure the attachment.
  • Choose the nozzle that matches the fuel gas and the material thickness.
  • Keep oil and grease away from all oxygen fittings.
  • Close the cylinder valves and vent the hoses at the end of work.

Choosing the right shank

Before ordering, confirm the thread type on your hoses or hose connectors, since GCE lists different shank versions. Then select the attachments and nozzles for the jobs planned: cutting, welding, heating or soldering. Where a complete set is preferred, GCE offers sets that combine the shank with matching attachments.

Maintenance of the torch handle

Keep the shank clean and free of spatter, and store it away from oil and dirt. If a valve becomes stiff or leaks, take the shank out of service until it has been repaired by a competent person. Check the hoses for cuts, burns and cracks, and replace damaged hoses rather than taping them.

GCE oxy-fuel equipment in Oman and the GCC

Workshops, maintenance teams and contractors across Oman and the GCC use oxy-fuel systems for cutting and heating work. Seven Star LLC supplies GCE X11 Original torch shanks and attachments across Oman and the GCC. Our team can help confirm the correct ordering code for the shank, attachments and nozzles.

Training and workplace rules

Only trained people should set up and use oxy-fuel equipment. Keep a fire extinguisher close to the work, clear combustible material from the area, and use a fire watch where hot work permits require one. Wear suitable eye protection with the correct shade, flame-resistant clothing and gloves. Secure gas cylinders upright and keep them away from the cutting area, so that sparks and slag cannot reach the regulators or hoses.

Documents and quotation

GCE publishes an X11 Original brochure that shows the shank connections, hose fittings, cutting attachments, nozzle data and complete sets. More equipment is listed under oxy-fuel cutting equipment.

To request a quote, state the fuel gas, the hose size, and whether you need cutting or welding attachments, nozzles or a complete set.

Ordering GCE torches and regulators: what we need

Give the GCE article number, or the product range with length, head angle and connection threads. State the fuel gas, acetylene or propane, because the nozzle type depends on it, together with the plate thickness you cut, the gas and outlet pressure for regulators, and the safety devices required on site.
