ifm PN7093 Pressure Sensor with Display
Overview
ifm PN7093 is a ceramic-capacitive pressure sensor with an integrated red-green switch-point display, engineered by ifm electronic for compressed air, hydraulic, and general industrial pressure monitoring from 0 to 25 bar (0…362 psi). The ifm PN7093 combines two configurable PNP/NPN switching outputs with an IO-Link communication interface on a single M12 connector, giving plant engineers both simple discrete switching and full digital process-value access from one compact stainless steel body with a G1/4 internal (female) process thread.
Working closely with plant engineers in the region, Seven Star LLC proudly supplies the ifm PN7093 pressure sensor to facility engineers, system integrators, and OEM panel builders across Oman and the wider GCC, backed by technical support with selection for critical process lines.
Measurement Principle
The ifm PN7093 uses a ceramic-capacitive measuring cell in which process pressure deflects a rugged ceramic diaphragm bonded to a fixed ceramic counter-electrode. The resulting change in capacitance is converted by onboard electronics into a linear, temperature-compensated output signal. Because the ceramic diaphragm has no metallic bourdon elements in the pressure path, the sensor tolerates overload and pressure-spike events far beyond its nominal range without permanent zero-point drift, delivering repeatability of better than ±0.1% of the span (with temperature fluctuations below 10 K) within the −25…80°C operating window.
Two independent switch points are freely programmable via the front-panel keys or over IO-Link, each assignable as a hysteresis window, single-point switch, or window function, and each mapped to one of the two PNP/NPN outputs. In practice this means no moving parts are exposed to the media, no pressure drop is introduced into the line, and there is no risk of media contamination from lubricants or seal wear – a critical advantage for the clean compressed-air and hydraulic circuits common in Omani manufacturing and desalination plants.
Beyond its published measuring span, the ifm PN7093 carries a nominal pressure rating of 150 bar and a minimum burst pressure of 350 bar, giving hydraulic power units and compressor discharge lines a substantial safety margin against transient pressure spikes and water-hammer events. The sensor additionally tolerates vacuum conditions down to −1 bar, making it equally suitable for suction-side monitoring on pumps and vacuum-assisted process equipment, and its wetted parts – 1.4404 stainless steel, technical ceramic, and an FKM seal – resist the mineral oils, water-glycol hydraulic fluids, and compressed air commonly encountered on Omani industrial sites without seal degradation or long-term drift.
Engineering Design of the ifm PN7093
The ifm PN7093 is built into a housing with a 1.4404 stainless steel process connection, rated IP65/IP67, with a G1/4 internal (female) process connection sized for direct manifold or hydraulic block mounting. The rotatable housing allows the display to be oriented for readability regardless of installation angle, and the large two-color (red/green) segment display shows the live process value while indicating switch-point status at a glance – eliminating the need for a separate gauge on the same tapping point.
Electrical connection is made through a single M12x1 4-pin connector carrying both switching outputs and the IO-Link (COM2, 38.4 kBaud) interface, simplifying cabling to PLC digital inputs or an IO-Link master for SCADA-level diagnostics. Supply voltage is 18…30 VDC, and the sensor’s compact profile – 34 mm in diameter and 90.7 mm long – suits tight panel and skid layouts where space around hydraulic manifolds or compressor headers is limited. The unit weighs just 0.235 kg complete, its housing combining a 1.4404 stainless steel wetted section with a glass-fibre-reinforced PBT/PC shell, and it carries DIN EN 60068-2-6 vibration resistance (20 g, 10…2000 Hz) and DIN EN 60068-2-27 shock resistance (50 g, 11 ms) ratings that matter on compressor skids and vibrating machine-tool bases where lighter-duty sensors work loose or fail prematurely. The M12 connector uses gold-plated contacts for long-term corrosion resistance in humid, coastal GCC environments, and the ifm PN7093 carries CE marking to the DIN EN 61000-6-2/6-3 EMC standards together with UL recognized-component status, easing specification into both European- and North American-engineered skids supplied into the region.

IO-Link Operating Modes and Device IDs
ifm lists the PN7093 under the type designation PN-025-RER14-QFRKG/US/ /V. Its IO-Link interface is revision 1.1 with COM2 transmission (38.4 kBaud), supports SIO mode and needs a class A master port. Two operating modes with different device IDs are available. In the factory setting (DeviceID 402) the sensor follows Smart Sensor Profile SSP 0, sends a 14-bit pressure value plus two binary switching bits, resolves 0.1 bar over IO-Link and has a minimum process cycle time of 2.3 ms.
The second mode, called Status_B High Resolution (DeviceID 600), follows Smart Sensor Profile SSP 3.1 as a measuring sensor. Here the cyclic process data consists of a 16-bit pressure value, four device status bits and two binary switching bits, the IO-Link pressure resolution improves to 0.01 bar and the minimum process cycle time is 3 ms. When replacing a unit or preparing a master configuration, check which DeviceID the existing project expects, because the two modes use different process data layouts.
Switch Point Ranges and Output Loading
The set point SP can be adjusted from 0.2 to 25 bar and the reset point rP from 0.1 to 24.9 bar, in steps of 0.1 bar, with a minimum difference of 0.2 bar between them. Switch-on and switch-off delays are programmable from 0 to 50 s. Each switching output is rated for 150 mA continuous current, rising to 200 mA up to 60 °C and 250 mA up to 40 °C, with a maximum voltage drop of 2.5 V. ifm states that a restrictor element is not integrated but can be retrofitted, and that the unit suits group 2 fluids under the pressure equipment directive.

ifm sensors listed on this page
ifm identifies every device with a short article number, and that number is what we order against. Three are listed here:- O1D100: laser distance sensor for position and distance measurement
- PN7093: pressure sensor with local display
- NG5021: inductive proximity sensor with NAMUR output
Ordering ifm sensors: what we need
Send the six-character article number printed on the housing (two letters and four digits, or similar). If the label is worn, a photo plus the thread size, sensing range, output type and connector style is enough for us to check the part against ifm documentation. For NAMUR sensors, tell us which isolating amplifier is in the loop. Buyers in the GCC who need a successor for a discontinued article can send the old number and we will check the replacement the manufacturer names.Browse ifm products by category: Sensors & Transmitters, Pressure Instrumentation.
