The ComAp InteliATS2 50 is an automatic transfer switch controller for stand-by and prime-power applications. It monitors two three-phase sources, S1 and S2, and decides which one feeds the load. It handles mains-to-mains, mains-to-gen and gen-gen configurations, so it suits transfer panels between a utility feed and a generator, between two utility feeders or between two generators.

The 50 is the compact model in the InteliATS2 family, with a 3.2 inch monochrome display, six binary inputs and six binary outputs, true RMS voltage measurement and a cut-out of 172 x 112 mm. It features an all-in-one PC tool for configuration, monitoring and control, power over USB for configuration, and remote communication through AirGate 2.0, WebSupervisor and InteliSCADA.

Selection notes

An ATS controller does not supply the switch itself. The controller drives the contactors or breakers of the transfer panel, so confirm the mechanical interlock and the signal wiring with the switchgear builder. Compare it with the other InteliATS2 models in the family, and with a genset controller such as the ComAp InteliLite 4 AMF 25 controller if the set itself must be started automatically.

How the ComAp InteliATS2 50 IA250XXXBAA works

The controller watches two power sources at the same time. It measures the voltage and the frequency of source S1 and of source S2. When the preferred source fails or drifts out of limits, it starts the timer, signals a generator to start if needed, and then drives the transfer switch to the other source. When the preferred source returns and is stable, it can switch the load back. Timers and set limits decide how fast and when this happens.

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes for the IA250XXXBAA

Fit the controller into the panel cut-out and wire the voltage inputs of both sources through proper fuses. Wire the switch control outputs and status inputs.
